What ever happened to “Do you know where your children are?”............After tonight there’s parents who will soon learn when they get ‘the call’ their kid was shot. And I doubt that will in any way change their family dynamics.
“Parents”?
You mean single moms who are alcoholics and drug users?
Do they even care?
I doubt it. The parents of that kid probably don’t really care about where he is or what he does or he would not have been there in the first place. The best they will probably do is make enough of a scene to support some kind of legal action to make some money.
In our area people in education who see the life of children every day estimate that perhaps 20% of the children live in what most people would consider a functional home. A home with two active parents and active parenting as in guidance and discipline and even giving a flip about knowing where their children are.
That kid bleeding out in the street is not a child. A young man perhaps but not a child. He is fully formed to be what he will be the rest of his life, a lawless thug and now perhaps a dead one. Better off for him and us.
