I think people get distracted or make excuses because of the victim's past. It doesn't matter. Do you dismiss sexual assault because of what someone wears or doesn't wear, for where they work, or used to work, etc.? No, I would hope not.

We need more information here--was there a knife recovered? Did the cops seriously feel life threatened by a guy climbing into his truck with his kids to justify shooting him in the back seven times?

From initial information I've read and heard, the cops were wrong, trigger happy, and should be investigated and charged with attempted murder.

He’s not even right about what would happen if it WAS a movie.

In a movie, even if some bad cop does something bad, nobody cheers for indiscriminate slaughtering of police. Someone who was doing that type of mayhem would instantly be recognized by the audience as a VILLAIN, even if they were motivated by some desire to do good.

For example, look at the “Black Panther” movie. The bad guy in that movie was trying to do good, but he adopted a villain’s methodology, and so everyone knew he was the villain. They wrote plenty of articles afterwards about how “nuanced” and “complicated” of a villain he was, but he was still the villain and that was never in doubt.

Michael Moore doesn’t understand this because he can’t write good movies. He tried to be a real filmmaker once (”Canadian Bacon” starring John Candy), but it was a total flop. Ever since then he’s stuck with his “documentaries”.
