Night hurricanes are the worst. During Irma, we heard machine gun fire hitting the front wall of the house until the winds finally changed direction. At daylight, found out the rapid fire was hard-as-rocks immature grapes from the sea grape trees.

When I was a kid we used to take a large funnel with some surgical tubing and make a 3-man sling shot. Fill it full of immature sea grapes and it was like a giant shotgun.
That was after we ran out of water balloons.
The serious hurricanes for our part of the country in the last few years have mostly come ashore at night: Katrina, Rita, Ike. So its unfortunately appropriate that Laura do the same as well.
