Loans won’t help. All that will help is reopening the economy completely.

Loans help the business and its employees stray around for when the tin-pot dictators let their Cities/States re-open. My company has had effectively 0% business since mid-March. Boss finally had to cut almost everyone last month. The only reason he kept us that long was the PPP covering two months of expenses. But, even if everything opens tomorrow, we're in corporate AV (live events like meetings, conferences, etc), and until business start doing those again, most of the entertainment/hospitality industry is gonna stay almost-dead. And I don;t see that happening very quickly at all. Even with a 100% opening right now.

One of the functions of a recession is to weed out marginal businesses. Perhaps 20% gets some more than the marginal however.

With marginal businesses closing, room is made for new businesses. You are correct. Loans won’t make a difference and wise bankers know that and won’t make a loan to a dying business.

Ambitious ex employees will be out of a job and then go into business them selves...... that’s the American way
