President Donald Trump hosted a campaign rally in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the same night the Democratic National Convention was scheduled to kick off in Milwaukee. While Democrats instead opted for a virtual conference to avoid spreading the coronavirus, Trump drew a crowd of at least 1,000 people.
In off-the-cuff remarks, Trump suggested to Republicans that if they wanted to win elections, they had to keep cannabis legalization off the ballot. Though the Trump Administration has attacked cannabis reform in behind-closed-doors proceedings and by blocking legislative action, this is the first time the President has made negative comments about cannabis in public. The next time you run please dont put marijuana on the ballot at the same time youre running, Trump said at the rally. You brought out like a million people that nobody ever knew were coming out.
The comments were directed at former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who was among the crowd and was ousted in the 2018 midterm election by Democratic challenger and current Gov. Tony Evers. But the 2018 gubernatorial race was heated with just over one percentage point of total votes separating Evers and Walker.
However, statewide legalization wasn't on the Wisconsin ballot in 2018. Instead a number of local advisory questions appeared in 16 counties, which all voted affirmatively they would support recreational or medical cannabis reform. But these voter approvals were nonbinding and only serve to gauge public sentiment on a given topic.
These ballot measures were placed there by elected officials in those individual counties. Walker had no role in placing them on the ballot, as Trump suggested. Data suggests those measures may have tipped the gubernatorial race Evers' favor. Official results show Evers gained significant votes in those 16 counties [...]

“”””Republicans need to support legalization. “”””””
No, they don’t. Screw the stoners.
It’s only a matter of time until it’s legal everywhere in the U.S. And it should be. The era of throwing people in cages for using it are long gone for the most part.
I thought for a second it said don’t put marijuana IN the ballots.
I honestly don’t have an opinion on legalizing marijuana. I can see though, where it brings out the basement dwelling larpers who would otherwise stay in Mama’s basement.
Nobody gets thrown in cages for smoking weed or doing any other drug.
Don't put marijuana on the ballot...
And don't leave your records in the sun.
The only reason I can think of that the fed has not at the very least remove it from being a felony , which is insane, is they like to use it as a door to open finding another crime. Only bad comes from making it illegal.
No, they dont. Screw the stoners.
Is it better to maintain consistent support for limited government, and to win elections ... or to "screw the stoners"? I say clearly the former.
That horse is out of the barn.

Felony acting operators, 5 years ago, are now protected as essential workers.

A few hold out states will start drooling over the marijuana tax revenue and will soon roll over.
That's absolutely great advice -- make them take a camera phone pic of their ballot, showing they voted for Trump, and when they show it to someone at the campaign office, ONLY THEN are they handed a dime bag.
And when it does, the GOP needs to win their vote - which they can do while firming up the consistency of their limited-government stance.
We learned that in Michigan in the 2018; Thats how Michigan was cursed with Whitmer and the whole rat State ticket!
If you somehow think that weed should be legal then all drugs must be legal.
Plenty of people are in prison on possession charges - are you claiming that every single one of them pled down from a more serious charge? If that's your claim, where's your evidence?
And don’t forget that’s why we didn’t get John James that time around.
Will you or someone else screw them?
Of course - just as the more addictive, more deadly, and more violence-inducing drug alcohol is legal.
then all drugs must be legal.
There are few if any other currently illegal drugs that, like marijuana, are less harmful than the legal drug alcohol. So the case for marijuana legalization is strongest. Also, prudence dictates that we legalize in a measured manner - which means starting with the least harmful drug and seeing what lessons we learn before considering further legalizations.
Your ID used at a legal pot store will label one as a drug user.
