The Trump administrations tax break for underprivileged neighborhoods has attracted an estimated $75 billion dollars in private investment, potentially lifting 1 million people out of poverty,......Opportunity zones were created in the tax overhaul of 2017, offering capital gains advantages to investors as a way to encourage new businesses, housing, and jobs.......President Trump has hailed their success.
The CEA estimates that opportunity zone designation alone has caused a 1.1 percent increase in housing values, it says. Greater amenities and economic opportunity behind the housing value increase will be broadly enjoyed, and for the nearly half of OZ residents who own their homes, the increase provides an estimated $11 billion in new wealth.
The program allows investors to defer and lower their capital gains taxes on sales of stocks and other investments if they plow the proceeds into projects in areas struggling with poverty. Nearly 8,800 opportunity zones have been certified.
The COVID-19 pandemic slowed investment everywhere in the second quarter of 2020, including in Opportunity Zones, but the initial evidence suggests that the OZ model has power to mobilize investors; engage state, local, and tribal stakeholders; and improve the outlook for low-income communitiesall with limited prescription from the federal government, the study concludes. This reports findings highlight the potential for the opportunity zone model to help spur the post-COVID-19 recovery in thousands of distressed communities across the United States.

It won’t make one bit of difference if BLM burns down the rebuilding efforts.
And what did Obama/Biden do for these people.....NOTHING!!
Democrats outraged!
“It wont make one bit of difference if BLM burns down the rebuilding efforts.”
...These rebuilding efforts are in mostly black neighborhoods but as we’ve seen, that doesn’t make a difference. But you can’t say Trump doesn’t always put forth the effort and he’s the furthest thing from being a racist.
Just abolish all welfare, housing, and food stamp programs which would force people to become more responsible and find a job. Then their communities would improve on its own. If people truly needed help, private and religious organizations would step up.
Well lets hope they’re not that stupid.
Thats probably why BLM started the destruction. They cant let the black community get ahead or they may figure out theyve been lied to for decades.
Well that’s it exactly...Trump does very well at stricking a balance on what and when he does something for the people and this nation....and it’s a rough job even finding that balance.
Fortunately if Trump can’t get what he wants for the people he’ll drop it and come back to it later as he keeps on moving ahead. That tempo and attitude is why things continue being done.
Well I do believe there are certain areas that the Dems have neglected terribly for decades and they do need a hand up.
I know in Florida, while living there, they began such projects and the low lifers left those areas leaving them to those who did care and maintained the changes.
Did Oprah, the Obamas, Robert Johnson, Maxine Waters, Gayle King, or any other African American multimillionaire do anything to create opportunity zones in distressed urban areas? How about progressives in Hollywood? Bill Gates, George Soros, or Tom Steyer?
One would think the wealthy who decry conditions in poor communities would invest some of their own money to lift up the people in those communities. Are they stingy, selfish, or do they perceive the downtrodden they accuse conservatives have forgotten are actually a bad investment?
This is the first I’m learning of this. The MSM would have been shouting this from the rooftops if a Democrat did it.
It wont make one bit of difference if BLM burns down the rebuilding efforts.

I suspect we’re going to see a dramatic turn-around in terms of law enforcement very quickly following the election IF Trump is re-elected. And I mean in both the Swamp and the streets.

Well and truly said. That’s exactly the way the country should be run. I know from long experience that it’s almost impossible to find anyone of any age to do small farm jobs or other general maintenance and clean-up jobs. Used to be people of all ages would jump at the chance to make a few extra dollars. NOT ANY MORE!

The problem starts earlier than that, IMO.
