Republican congressional candidate Madison Cawthorn faces increased scrutiny after multiple reports of unwanted sexual behavior.
The allegations came to light following a social media post from a woman who shared her account of a date with Cawthorn six years ago. Katrina Krulikas said in the post that Cawthorn forcefully attempted to kiss her twice.
Cawthorn, 24, of Hendersonville, has denied the allegations, and a public relations consultant for his campaign questioned the timing of Krulikas’ statement.
Krulikas said her decision to share her experience of a date with Cawthorn in 2014 came after months of consideration.
“I had written the statement weeks ago,” Krulikas, who now lives in Chapel Hill and works as a nanny, said in a Aug. 19 phone call. “I talked to people close to me, my mom especially, and decided I had a moral and ethical obligation to say something.”
In her Aug. 13 Instagram post, Krulikas described a 2014 date with Cawthorn, now 25, when he was 19 and she was 17. The UNC grad writes how the two teens, both members of the same Asheville Christian home school community, met at Biltmore Village after Cawthorn reached out on social media.
The two then drove together to a “secluded field” for a bonfire. When they arrived, according to Krulikas, Cawthorn began asking about her sexual history.
“I immediately felt discomforted,” she posted.
Her account states that Cawthorn, seated in a wheelchair following an auto accident earlier that year that leaves him without the use of his legs, then invited Krulikas to sit on his lap.
“I felt pressured and unsure of how to say no,” she wrote. “So I sat on his lap.”
Krulikas describes how Cawthorn then tried to kiss her twice, attempts which she used force to resist.

If they drove to a secluded area, as the article states, wouldn’t she have had to drive? Heck, if the guy’s in a wheel chair, wouldn’t that, literally, put her in the driver’s seat? She had complete control of the whole situation, from my view. I wonder how much the dems are paying her for this.

this was , maybe sadly, the way a lot of oeople thought it was, women resisting to show chastity, before giving in.
this didnt work always, but was considered simply bad form, you slap the man, and move on.
now we prosecute it like sexual assault. rather than saving that for men who just walk up to women and touch them, or men like Biden who assume its ok to touch girls who cant getvaway.

This is great! It will get our boy more votes than before the revelation. I would be worried about him had he not taken advantage of the situation and tried to kiss the girl. This illustrates he is normal and not one the typical democratic weirdos.
