State Health Commissioner Dr. Norman Oliver told 8News on Friday that he plans to mandate coronavirus vaccinations for Virginians once one is made available to the public.
Virginia state law gives the Commissioner of Health the authority to mandate immediate immunizations during a public health crisis if a vaccine is available. Health officials say an immunization could be released as early as 2021.
Dr. Oliver says that, as long as he is still the Health Commissioner, he intends to mandate the coronavirus vaccine.
“It is killing people now, we don’t have a treatment for it and if we develop a vaccine that can prevent it from spreading in the community we will save hundreds and hundreds of lives,” Oliver said.
Under state law, only people with a medical exemption could refuse the mandate.

No historical basis for being effective and safe bothers me, plus Bill Gates is pushing for it hard - and his track record on vaccines is horrific. I’m not very trusting in areas like this.
The ribosomes are inside cells, yes. But not inside the nucleus, where your DNA is. There is no mechanism for mRNA to get inside the nucleus of your cells where your DNA is contained. Even if it could, there is no mechanism for it to unravel your DNA. Nor any mechanism for it to snip your DNA. Nor any mechanism for it to perform inserts into your DNA. Nor any mechanism for it to repair your DNA.
mRNA is simply a single stranded molecule composed of nucleotides. It doesn’t do anything. It has to bump into a ribosome for anything to happen, and the only thing that CAN happen is for the encoded glycoprotein to be produced. This isn’t magic from Harry Potter. This isn’t science fiction from Star Trek. This is basic modern science that’s well known and well understood.
Anyone who thinks this is doing something to your DNA either does not understand how it works or DOES understand and is INTENTIONALLY misleading people.
I ask you a few basic questions about the extraordinary and completely baseless claims you’ve made and your only response is to make more baseless accusations. That sure is telling. Most people want COVID-19 to end. President Trump is ending it with multiple vaccines that are being well tested for safety and efficacy. You are intentionally trying to sabotage President Trump’s efforts by spreading lies about the products being produced which will only work to prolong COVID-19 and all the negative effects from it. Lying and fearmongering, all for what purpose? Electing Joe Biden?
You are projecting in every respect.
I’m saying that COVID-19 and all the masks, social distancing, shutdowns, economic disruptions, and other negative effects are nearly over thanks to President Trump’s efforts to help streamline and support the development of safe and effective vaccines that will save hundreds of thousands of American lives.
That is not a message of fear. That is a message of optimism based on facts and based on the direct statements made by President Trump. Know what a message of fear looks like?
“OMG THE VACCINE IS POISON THAT WILL KILL YOU AND TURN YOU INTO A NEWT!”
And then I ask you how exactly it would do that, and for what purpose, and your response is to accuse me of being part of some sort of conspiracy. THAT is what fearmongering looks like.
I support President Trump and his efforts to end COVID-19 with a safe and effective vaccine. What do you support, exactly?

Curious why that isn’t mentioned much lately.
Trump points out the great benefit of developing effective treatments, at times.
But many seem to think only vaccines will do- heck, they’re still months away!
While several very promising treatments will be coming out of trials in just weeks.
Go back to Moderna / The Gates Foundation / The WHO and tell your masters that you failed.
There are a lot of things that can help.
I’ve mentioned more effective treatments in my own comments more recently, but I think the reason you’re hearing less about it from President Trump is that he’s well aware of just how close we are to a vaccine and he knows that while new treatments can bring incremental improvement in the outcomes for certain patients (every treatment has its own limitations and the concept of anything being a universal miracle cure is complete fantasy). He’s also aware that any specific treatment he advocates will get demonized by the Democrats and their media lap dogs.
Ultimately, it isn’t any one treatment or group of treatments that brings this all to an end. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and safe and effective vaccines that bring us beyond the herd immunity threshold and prevent all future COVID-19 cases is the endgame. When cases dwindle to zero, the game is over and President Trump will have won.
I’m increasingly convinced based on multiple (publicly available) sources and Congressional testimony that we’ll have at least one vaccine approved in the US before the election and probably 2-3 approved before the end of the year. The president has arranged for the vaccine makers to produce doses during clinical testing and so as soon as approval is given, they should be shipping to your local pharmacy.
I’m sorry, but Joe Biden isn’t going to win the election no matter how hard you wish for it to happen.
President Trump will deliver a safe and effective vaccine that ends all the negative effects of COVID-19 and the governors’ overreactions to it. And everyone on the right and most of the people in the center will thank him for making that happen by delivering him another four years in the White House. President Trump will win reelection in no small part thanks to his amazing efforts at delivering a safe and effective vaccine faster than any other vaccine ever developed in human history.
And there is nothing you can do to stop it.
I doubt we’ll have a proven vaccine before the election, and think treatments will be much more efficacious... but that’s just an opinion.
Have my doubts about merna vaccine- but just because it is really new. I hope that type of vaccine works, just would like a generation of proof- LOL! at myself, but it’s true.
