PHOENIX On August 17, a cease and desist letter was sent to Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes regarding a new instruction included on early ballot materials during this months Primary Election. In the letter, attorney Alexander Kolodin, advises Fontes that the instruction to cross out votes made in error on a ballot must not be included on the upcoming General Election ballots.
Adrian Fontes is a dangerous man who makes up his own rules as he goes along. Not surprisingly, the rules he invents always make our elections less secure and provide back doors for unscrupulous people to put their thumb on the scale of our elections, Kolodin told the Arizona Daily Independent.
Our client knows that he is going to keep doing this as long as nobody challenges him, said Kolodin referring to Fontes. Perhaps the worst of these new rules is the instruction that voters can change their vote without requesting a new ballot by crossing-off the old vote and filling in a new bubble. Of course, theres no way to know who actually crossed off a vote, so anyone in a ballots chain of custody could change a vote without anyone being able to tell. Thats why, on Monday, our client sent a cease and desist letter telling Fontes to knock it off or get sued.
The instruction ad raised the eyebrows of both lawmakers and candidates alike during the primary cycle.

If I have done this posting wrong, please correct.
Just ignore the ease and desist letter......problem solved and CHECKMATE
When is his term up? He needs to go. Never trusted him.
Thats super scary!
This guy has been bad news from day one. He has reduced the polling places and changes some to very difficult locations especially for seniors.
All intentional, Im sure. He is up for re-election in November. But he is the one counting the votes in Maricopa County.
He pushes himself as an active Marine and a patriot.
He was sponsored by OurRevolution in 2016. And he admitted he accepted signatures that didnt match in 2018. Thats the way they do it in Tucson (a dem stronghold) so thats the way we are going to do it here. They say they called and ask if the person answering the phone voted and if the answer is yes the votes count. The Republican Party had better be VERY SAVVY this election.
Please strip google from your links. Give links to the actual article. Thank You.
How?
Savvy? Haven’t heard a peep out of Kelli Ward at all. I honestly don’t think she is strong at all. We need someone who can get things done, be more aggressive to lead the Republican Party in AZ. Just my opinion.
After you follow you own link to the story then the google part will disappear. Then copy the real link from the address bar in your browser. That way google is not specifically tracking everyone who specifically clicks on your link.
Here is the link to the story minus Google:
?????
Did you misunderstand the issue?
The cease and desist is to stop folks who “process” ballots from changing them to different votes....if they ignore it, they should be shot.
Thank you.
Yes. The direction on the ballot should have NEVER SAID you can change your vote by crossing out your first marking and marking your current choice. It should have always said if you make a mistake, you will need to get a NEW BALLOT.
That is what the direction WAS up until thIs August Primary, when Fontes allowed for ballots to be marked twice with one cross out.
And NO, I would never want the person counting the ballot to decide where my intent lies.....especially if the person counting the ballot is a Dem.
Which means Democrats in charge can “correct” every Republican vote.
