And with no fans, there is no betting revenue. I don’t know if the state or Louisville get a cut of gambling revenue, but if so, they can say bye to that.

And don’t thousands of people from out of town come to Louisville for the Derby? Say bye to all that tourism revenue too.

The only out of towners we seem to get right now are the protesters (I wish I was joking, a week or two ago we had some bussed in from GA to march through our streets)

Not true.

Saratoga has no fans, and their daily handle has been good. Just under $29 million for 11 races last Saturday. Last year (also Alabama Stakes Saturday) just over $25 million also for 11 races.

The serious betters do so online en masse to be plenty profitable. True on the tourism loss though. I will say horse racing, from a home viewing angle, horseracing is one of those broadcasts that you don't notice the lack of fans as much. Probably better for the horses too not to have all that commotion and distraction. But there is nothing like the in-person experience.

Man, Dilbert
Wife and I went to the Derby two years ago.
Little more than a drunk fest with thousands of youth who’d spent the night before partying in the parking lots surrounding U.Of Louisville stadium.
