The fact that he was charged in New York makes me want to wait to pass judgement. That goes with everybody. Even people I don’t like. We have to follow the golden rule of judge not yest ye be judged yourself. Although that doesn’t mean you can’t have a righteous opinion.
I don’t like fraudsters on either side of the political spectrum. Crooks are crooks.
There are some good comments on this, in this thread:

At all cost, avoid New York.
Just to be safe, also avoid California.
What a blinded or bought-off fraud “Spengler” is on China!
What he did was extremely common in the world of foundations and charities/non-profits. You could selectively charge almost anyone with that crime.
Steve Bannon is a talented colorful individual. Yet this character recurs constantly through recorded history in almost all cultures. He is a man who through talent and guile has risen to great heights. Yet just as he is about to reach the apex of power, a fatal flaw of some sort scuttles his career. In Bannon’s case he had financial wizardy, success in show business and a political creed with skills that gave him recognition. It placed him in a position to not only be a part of the new Trump administration but, as the Democrats feared, to lead in the formulation of policy, goals and outcomes. Sadly he was not able to execute or handle the power he achieved and never realized his potential. Bannon won’t be the last such man who impales on his own apex.
Perhaps the same people that have the state prosecutor after the NRA are the ones that have the federal prosecutor after Steve Bannon and those that wanted to help build the wall. The timing is perfect for such purposes. I am more concerned about the character of the wounded warrior, Brian Kolfage, that started the gofundme campaign than I am about Bannon. If it is proved that he misused any funds, then I will be sorely disappointed. So far I have not heard nor seen any response from Kolfage.
I agree, I hope Bannon is cleared of these charges.
I agree. The question is, is Bannon a crook, or is he being punished for being an outspoken conservative. Given the jurisdiction, not to mention the other conservatives whove been railroaded over the past few years, Im pretty confident that the latter is true.
I am very reluctant to give to charities. I get so many requests by mail. They appeal to our compassions and promise to fill the need ..yet how do we know where the money is really going? My husband and I were generous to one org I wont name. Conservative. I got suspicious after receiving constant pleas and realizing that nothing was really getting done to fix the problems they were complaining about. It was just talk. After contacting them with a request to see where the money was going I got a very vague reply. I stopped. Had a difficult time getting them to stop sending me more mailings.
Realize that conservativism is a very lucrative marketplace. We are passionate people. So the appeal to build a wall would likely generate much cash and the promise of the money not being siphoned off into wallets an encouragement for people like me to trust it.
I hope this isnt true. If it is they were not only deceivers, they were stupid. With all the investigating going on, did they think they could get away with it?
Good advice. Add Washington, DC to your list.
If he is, guarantee it will not be until after the election.
The charges are Federal, not SDNY.
(I think)
Have you read the indictment? This is a good summary
https://www.nationalreview.com/2020/08/the-bannon-indictment/
I googled Guo Wengui, and Catholic since I know Bannon is Catholic and opposes the current state of things in the Church. I wondered if Wengui is also Catholic:
Brief : Steven Bannon and religious figures Archbishop Viganò and Cardinal Zen of Hong Kong condemned the secret agreement signed between the CCP and the Vatican in 2018.
The secret agreement violates United Nations regulations. Mr. Guo Wengui pointed out that since 2013, Beijing has paid the Vatican $2 billion in funding each year in exchange for keeping silent on the CCPs crimes and its plan to rule the world. At the same time, the US State Department official confirmed the BGY plan of the CCP to conquer the world pointed out by Guo Wengui.
Yes. But again, given the jurisdication, why would I automatically believe any of the assertions therein?
‘He is a man who through talent and guile has risen to great heights. Yet just as he is about to reach the apex of power, a fatal flaw of some sort scuttles his career.’
sounds like someone out of a Theodore Dreiser novel...
“...prosecutors from the U.S. attorneys office for the Southern District of New York”
Enough said.
Corrupt office. Actively trying to find a way to indict Trump, too.
Reports are very vague. What did they do illegal? Not clear.
Numbers not mentioned because amounts are small. $350K to amputee veteran. Very little. This 350 out of a million. That’d be 4%
Most charities spend only small per cents on the actual charity.
