honest question: how many people actually use a mailbox? those with homes, put outgoing mail in their own; those with apts, have some sort of outgoing slot, or they mail it from work. I guess they’re useful for small packages with prepaid postage? The nearest mailbox to me is the drive-thru lane at the post office.

and, didn’t they start removing mailboxes long, long ago because ferals would dump garbage into them? or fireworks? I seem to remember something about that. And the postal union not wanting drivers to make as many stops?

The nearest mailbox to me is the drive-thru lane at the post office.

The only drop boxes I have seen in decades are in the drive-thru lane at the post office.
