Gavin Newsom estimated Monday it would cost the state $700 million per week to implement President Donald Trumps proposed unemployment boost.
Newsom said Trumps offer, which would require states to pick up 25% of the cost, would cause further delays at the states beleaguered unemployment department and force harsh new cuts in a state saddled with a record $54 billion deficit.

Call me crazy but 700,000,000 ÷ 100= 7,000,000 people in the state unemployed?
If that's true you got a real problem that is getting ready to explode
I imagine it costs way more than $100 per person to put someone on welfare
By the looks of it, California could be spending 6x that on welfare benefits pretty soon https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/politics/sdut-welfare-capital-of-the-us-2012jul28-htmlstory.html
So, my fuzzy math says you could spend $4.2 billion per month you are not currently spending and that is just for welfare checks https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/politics/sdut-welfare-capital-of-the-us-2012jul28-htmlstory.html
Gee California, that’s too bad
do the states HAVE TO pony up the 100?
and 7 million sounds insane
Somehow the title got truncated
Well Mr empty suit, I guess Kalifornia can’t pay that extra $100 and folks will just have to get by on $700 a week ($400 max State, $300 Federal)
That 300 requires the state kick in 100. No 100 no 300.
Hey, maybe they should allow businesses to open, so people won’t need unemployment benefits to survive. Crazy idea, right?
Even if 700 million were true, which is 2.4 billion per month, it’s way less than welfare, section 8 and all the other social programs people will clamor for
I don’t know how the news hasn’t started stories of women and children starving because their unemployment ran out two weeks ago.
CA should secede ASAP so that we can enjoy the sure to come collapse.
We can then invade, “take care” of the progressives and GOOGLE, clean the sh*t out of PelosiTown, and restore the state to its former glory.
Its mafia money
No the requirement for the states to pick up 100 was eliminated. When are unemployed New Yorkers going to revolt. Why hasn’t Cuomo applied? 20 states have applied, with half already approved.
So Pretty Boy Newsome are you saying the 30 billion or so spent SO FAR on the train to nowhere might have come in handy. I bet you are, you just aren’t saying it out loud.
“Never underestimate the Democrats ability to f**k things up”
There’s ~2.8m unemployed in CA as of June so the 700M a week is BS just like everyone in government in CA.
Wrong that requirement was eliminated a day or two after Trump made the announcement. The state does not have to kick in 100 to get 300. Some stateside West Virginia have agreed to the 100.
i don’t give a #### what NYers do.
My income hasn’t changed and I can leave this city in a day’s notice.
You’re asking the wrong guy.
But ask many others from anywhere else and they’ll have a lot to say on it :)
Why I don’t know. I couldn’t give a #### what happens in other cities and states. to each his own
yeah i know.
Of course they would leave out that they are still getting state unemployment and food is the first necessity people would get.
But that’s just semantics to the msm
Well, Newscum, if you would stop showering money on illegals and criminals, you could afford to help taxpaying cirizens.
Everyone knows Dems can’t do simple arithmetic. Even if they could, Nuisance is sending millions to illegal immigrants which inflate what is actually needed by the state.
The State can choose to use the standard unemployment towards the 100. So costs the state nothing to get their unemployed citizens 300.
I was going to post the stat from BLM
