Five people were killed and 46 others were injured in Chicago violence last weekend, according to ABC 7, as widespread looting continued in the downtown area. Included in the injured were 6 teenagers and a 12 year boy who is the son of a Chicago firefighter.
In an interview on MSNBC this week to talk about the rampant violence in her city, Mayor Lori Lightfoot sought to cast blame elsewhere.
Sixty percent of the illegal guns that come into Chicago every year are from out of state, from Indiana, from Mississippi, from other states that have lax gun laws, she stated.
Yall Politics asked Governor Tate Reeves (R) for his response to Chicago Mayor Lightfoots comments.
This ridiculous conspiracy theory from the Chicago mayorthat Mississippians are to blame for the violence in her own cityis bizarre and pathetic, Governor Reeves said. No serious person could think that murders are out of control and people are burning police cars in Chicago because of Mississippis commitment to the constitution.

Mississippi?! Why? Was Lightloafers raised there?
The sure sign of an incompetent leader is one who blames others for their mistakes. You people in Chicago need to do a better job at the ballot box.
Mississippi?
Did they just open the dictionary at random and pick something to point to in order to deflect discussion of the real problems?
“Aardvark” would have been picked if they had just opened from page one.
In Chicago the ballot box doesn't matter. Election outcomes are preordained and "ballots" reported accordingly.
If Chicago didnt have a few thousand street hoods in the gangs there would be no problem.
Its the relatively small numbers of bad people, not the inanimate guns.
BTW ... since the mayor honks gun control works so well to keep guns out of the hands of criminals how does it feel about the effectiveness of the 5-second rule keeping dropped food safe? Because they work about the same.
Sure, Mayor Bughead...everyone’s fault but yours.
If true this smacks of Emmett Till.
By the same logic: forcing Chicagoans to drive out of state to get their guns only wastes fuel and increases pollution.
Therefore Mayor Lightfoot is causing global warming.
Then the guns would have to walk across the state from East to West in order to get from the river to Chicago. That would make them tired and cranky; maybe that’s why they go off so quickly when they get there.
How many Chicago felons who committed crimes using firearms were later arrested for using a firearm during the commission of a crime?
How many Chicago felons who committed crimes using firearms were released before completing their sentence?
If Mayor Buckwheatia wants to point fingers, she can start in the mirror.
It’s just the BeetleJuice demon doing what it does best.
Like all communists: blame others, project, reflect, etc.
They NEVER take responsibility for their insanity.
Alas, true. In Lake County (Indiana, just south of Chicago), it’s been proven that, not only do dead people vote, often they vote twice!
Her parents should have disciplined her until she stopped blaming others for her problems.
Those guns are driving themselves to Chicago and then running around shooting people!
It’s terrible!
The states with failed gun control laws have been using this excuse for over fifty years, even before the 1968 Gun Control travesty was supposed to put a stop to it.
“Today we begin to disarm the criminal and the careless and the insane. All of our people who are deeply concerned in this country about law and order should hail this day.”-— Lyndon Johnson signing the 1968 gun control act into law.

“It’s all the Southern State’s fault WE can’t control guns in OUR state!”
Pikers. In Chicago the dead vote as many times as needed.
Mayor Groot of Chicago tries hard to avoid the most obvious workable approach: take the chronic criminals (the ones who keep getting arrested) and make sure they spend their youth in prison. Or execute them. Whatever gets them off the street.
