Is HCQ banned in your state? (probably not)
Various Sources - links inside | 8/18/2020 | States

Posted on 08/18/2020 7:48:11 AM PDT by Pollard

Due to an earlier thread where someone was voicing their anger towards President Trump seemingly not doing anything to allow people to have access to hcq, I decided to do the state by state research into which states have banned hcq and which ones haven't.

The results are fairly surprising considering a group of doctors had a two day summit in DC campaigning for access to hcq. There are rules but not much for outright bans.

Most of the info comes from lupus.org (https://www.lupus.org/advocate/state-action-on-hydroxychloroquine-and-chloroquine-access) but in some cases I went to the state websites using links found on the above lupus.org state by state guide page.

The bottom line; You can get it no matter where you are even if you're in one of the few states that has banned it. Many bans have expired. How would you get it in one of those few banned states? Pretty much all states allow a doctor to temporarily register in another state, presumably for emergency situations where a state has a dire, short term need for doctors. Likewise, a doctor is allowed to have a permanent license in more than one state. Find a doctor who's office is right up against the state line and I bet he or she will be licensed in both states. Yes, this will require travel and doctor shopping. My only point is that it's doable.

However, as you'll see in Post #1, there are very few states with an outright ban. Quite a few states have no rule regarding hcq use. Others simply discourage improper prescribing, such as doctors hoarding it for themselves, family and friends. Some states make the doctor write up a full diagnosis or possibly reference one study showing hcq;s usefulness for covid(they do exist) Some states simply limit the prescription to a 14 day period. Some states only allow a prescription for those who have tested positive and a couple of states specify the patient be hospitalized. I found a loophole in one state(NJ?) that does not have any restriction on Infectious Disease specialists.

Where there's a will there's a way

Oh, we are covered...have a doc “for broken bones” and a trusted doc for sickness...who is on the preventative/naturapathic spectrum (and happens to have masters in Epidemiology
Too) ...then have a Naturapath...we use whatever is needed.

Great post!
Note that with the current trend to virtual doctor’s visits, you no longer need to be a resident of your doctor’s state, and you can and surely will soon see doctors in Florida offering to get HCQ prescriptions shipped to your door - as they do at present for a variety of off-label ED meds. Or so I am told... :-)

Numerous doctors here in Texas advocate for and openly prescribe the combination of HCQ/Azithromycin/zinc. See for example Dr. Brian Proctor of McKinney.

No, you and they are believing an illusion and not the truth. This thread shows you lie, or “Sham.”

President Trump should make HCQ over the counter by executive order. Pretty soon most will be taking it, refusing to wear masks, returning to normality. The election will be 92% for Trump.

Simple solution to the pandemic,,,,Make HCQ and Azithromycin OTC drugs so anyone who develops a cough and/or fever can go the nearest drug store and self medicate with the drugs along with Zinc Sulfate with correct dosage within 48 hours of symptoms and pandemic over.,,,,,instead of waiting a few days to get tested and 5 days for the results,,,,if over 60 years of age,,,,you’re dead.

Nevada’s Governor banned the use of HQC right out of the gate.....

And then, it was discovered that the Nevada State Board of Prisons was buying HUGE amounts of HQC.

Good point. I'm looking for a website that Dr Simon linked to where they've connected a bunch of doctors that you can see virtually. While doing that, I ran across a new hcq map on her site and it's probably better info than my post so I probably went through all that work for nothing. https://americasfrontlinedoctorsummit.com/hcq/ The map at the link is interactive. Screenshot below. Amazing that Zelenko got a hold of it. He must have gotten a bunch before the regs came out. Very surprising to me that MA(my birth place) is easier then MO(current residency).

Whatever the law says, hospital boards and pharmacies, and especially the big chain pharmacies have instituted rules making it difficult to impossible to get.

But some doctors work the system to get around the bans. But most doctors won’t. So you are somewhat on your own.

I saw somewhere that some people were getting it from on-line pharmacies. If I got it, I’d be trying that route.

In the meantime, I keep seeing where people (and some doctors) are promoting Quercetin as a substitute for HCQ. Some people are taking that with zinc as a precaution.

EGCG or a handful of cups of green tea will work better than quercetin. Combine them and you do that much better.

Do you combine it with zinc as with the others?

Yes. Both EGCG and quercetin are zinc ionophores, which is the mechanism HCQ provides, as well. I can’t speak to the half-lives of either, but I know HCQ has a multiple day half-life in our bodies (allowing it to work even weeks after having had “enough”).

Mississippi (((SHOULD SAY HIGHLY DISCOURAGED AND IF A PERSON IS IN THE HOSPITAL IT IS PROBABLY TOO LATE TO BE OF ANY EFFECT)))

On March 21, the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy issued guidance to pharmacists urging caution when prescribing hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine. The Board notes that neither drug is approved for the treatment or prevention of COVID-19, and if it is used, it should be restricted to patients admitted to the hospital with a confirmed case.

When the state says a medicine is restricted and/or discouraged it is just as good as banned, a shadow ban if you will. Doctors fearing for their license won’t prescribe it.
