Sanders claims America threatened by ‘authoritarianism’ in dire convention speech

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders made a dire plea to his supporters during Monday evening’s Democratic National Convention by asking them to cast their votes for presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden to prevent the spread of “authoritarianism” under President Trump.

Sanders – a progressive independent from Vermont – was once Biden’s biggest rival in the Democratic primaries, but in recent months has come over to the former vice president’s camp ahead of November’s general election.

During a speech from his home in Burlington, Sanders specifically called on his wide base of support among leftwing voters to go to the ballot box for Biden, arguing that Biden stands as the last line of defense against the demise of progressive polices under Trump.

I see, and when it comes to left vs right on gun control which side wants you to make your own choices, and which side wants the government to ban and tightly control firearms? When it is left vs right on things like Healthcare which side wants you to have private sector choices, and which side wants government controlled single payer? When it is left vs right on specific medical issues such as birth control and abortion, which side wants it to be up to the individual and which side wants the government to force employers to pay? When it is left vs right on things like the right to refuse service to anyone for a business which side wants it to be up to the business, and which side wants the government to dictate policy? We could go on and on all morning on issues big and small, but hopefully the light bulb has gone on for a few readers.

Yeah, I agree Bernie, we are facing a crisis of authoritarian abuse. But not from President Trump or conservatives. It is the socialists up to their same old fascist tricks. Everything sounds great and gets you nodding and going along - "we're the good guys!" The next thing you know, you're helping load people who don't go along onto rail cars.
