On Tuesday, Russia announced that its vaccine, named Sputnik V, had been green-lighted by its health regulators, making it the worlds first coronavirus vaccine to be approved.
U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday that he is hopeful that Russias recently approved coronavirus vaccine is effective.
We dont know much about it. We hope it works, we do, we hope it works, Trump said during a White House press conference.
Theyve cut off certain trials and we feel its just important to go through the process.
Trump was also asked whether he would take one of the vaccines being developed in partnership with the U.S. government.
He responded by saying that he would take it, adding: Id go first or last. Ill do whatever they want me to.
Trump later noted that if a vaccine does get approved in the United States, it should first go to the most vulnerable within the population.
Were actually making a list right now, he said. Mostly nursing homes, retirement centers.
Large-scale production of the vaccine, perhaps up to five million doses a month, is slated to begin in September, with mass vaccinations starting in October.
However, as the vaccine had only undergone rapid Phase 1 and 2 clinical trials on a small number of individuals, medical experts around the world, including White House coronavirus advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci, have voiced their concerns regarding its safety and efficacy.
Phase 3 trials are considered by many medical experts to be critical for any vaccine development, as they have the ability to root out any potentially dangerous side effects. Such trials often involve thousands of participants.
Dr. Francis Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health, said Thursday that Russias vaccine did not even make an effort to meet the fundamental parts of the scientific approval process.

Where’s that Tracy Morgan no gif at.
Mass vaccinations in Russia makes sense for 50+. If it did not go well, oh well. If it works, they can show off to rest of the world.
This is one thing that frightens me about Trump. If he pushes mandatory vaccinations then I will have to stop supporting him. I will have to consider being a subject to a “Long Con”.
And why is he so cozy with Bill Gates? And why did he back down on HCQ?
20+ countries have now requested the Russian vaccine.
did you ‘hear’ him say that it would be mandatory?? Because I actually ‘heard’ him say that not everyone will want to get one; it will be voluntary.
How was he suppose to handle HCQ? An edict? An EO?
OMG LOL, LOL, LOL, that is funny!!
He should have done an EO, right to try, just as he did for cancer medications
Rofl!!
Oh my word! Rofl!
This is one thing that frightens me about Trump. If he pushes mandatory vaccinations then I will have to stop supporting him. I will have to consider being a subject to a Long Con.

Hmmm ... the thing about Trump that frightens me is the possibility that hell turn out to be a space alien. If he does so turn out then I too will have to stop supporting him.
Of course, as my wife reassures me, Trump is neither a space alien nor will he push mandatory vaccinations. So we can both forget those unfounded fears and sleep well tonight.
There is NO WAY Trump is going to mandate vaccines HELL he is not even mandating masks!!!
I would not say the President is cozy with Bill Gates. Have not seen that.
