The Oregon State Police announced on Thursday that it was pulling out its roughly 100 state troopers from protecting the Mark O. Hatfield United States Courthouse in downtown Portland after the city’s district attorney announced that he is not pursuing charges against the rioters who have been arrested.
The Oregon State Police had committed to helping local law enforcement officials deal with the violent riots for a period of two weeks, which has now expired. “We’re in a county that’s not going to prosecute this criminal behavior,” said spokesman Capt. Timothy R. Fox.
Fox also said: “The Oregon State Police is continually reassessing our resources and the needs of our partner agencies and at this time we are inclined to move those resources back to counties where prosecution of criminal conduct is still a priority.”
The Oregon State Police shared a photograph on Thursday that showed a rock that had been thrown at one of their troopers, writing, “OSP Trooper sustained a concussion & whiplash after being struck in the head during the protests in Portland.”

So then if they pull out then does Trump go in to protect federal buildings?????
Why should he? I belive the police are making a statement. Why should they protect people who will not uphold the law?

To be fair, they arranged for a mindfulness counselor and a social worker adept at heartfelt discussions about dysfunctional family backgrounds.
So Portland’s not really on its own.
Blue states are turning purple for the 2020 election, even though it won't last another cycle, it's good news.

1. Let Oregon let the looters burn the courthouse down.
2. Announce a new program called DACA: Deferred Appropriations for Courthouse Arson. Under the DACA “program” the Federal Government will “defer” highway appropriations to Oregon until Oregon builds us a new courthouse.
3. Repeat as necessary.
The Portlandians are trying to rope-a-dope Trump.
Portland needs to stew in its own juice. The mayor and police need to help the prosecutor get his/her mind right. Let the Mayor ask the governor for the Guard. Let the governor and the Guard say they can’t handle it.
If the Courthouse isn’t safe, let the judges declare it so. Move the courts and functions to a site that is safe.
Portland officials have been playing ‘ring around the rosey’ on this matter for weeks, so obviously both the Mayor and the police have failed....and the Gvernor doesn’t appear to care either.

And why protect an unused courthouse, as they seem to not try anyone for anything anyway.
The ball is back in the Governor’s court.
Bill Barr has to give her a deadline for action.
I always love it when people who work in, with and administer our law lecture us that we don’t need the law.....

Because he just made a big deal out of it being required by law that the federal govt protects the properties entrusted to it by the people.
The State Police made their statement and move in relation to the local govt. Trump and the courthouse is irrelevant to their statement and pull out.
Can the feds charge the DA with violating civil rights for letting the lawless run amok?

Crimes against federal property are tried in federal court by the US Attorney’s office. Not the local DA!
The police are the foot soldiers here. This is a failure of leadership. I can’t fault the beat cop for not risking his/her life, knowing that the mayor and chief will throw them under the bus, and that the prosecutor is going to turn all these yahoos loose.
The real test will come at the next local election: If the powers that be are reelected, then the locals deserve to get what they asked for, good and hard.
The governor must guarantee a constitutional state government. If not, the President must intervene by arresting state and city officials.
