Two words. Component shortage. Other people have already figured that out. I have been lucky enough to get a couple thousand primers and 3 pounds of powder (enough for me for a while) in the last couple of weeks. Some bullets are available, but expensive.

All of this shows the wisdom of stocking up during times of plenty, even if only 100 rounds/month of 1 caliber at a time - over the course of 5 years that would be 6,000 rounds of ammo.
