On 28 January, 2019, a Houston Police Department Narcotics unit executed a no-knock warrant on an innocent Houston Couple, Dennis Tuttle, a disabled Navy veteran, and his wife Rhogena Nicholas, a devout Christian.
The raid was based on lies told to the court, about drug sales that never happened, to obtain the warrant. The couple were not drug dealers. When armed men burst into their home, without warning, and killed their dog, Denis Tuttle is said to have fought back with his .357 revolver.
Dennis and his wife Rhogena and their dog were all killed. The organizer of the raid, then officer Gerald Goins, was wounded in the neck. He could not talk. That may be why the coverup fell apart. Three other officers were wounded.
Over the next year and a half, investigations forced onto the Houston police department by citizens, the FBI, the Tuttle family, and the Harris County Prosecutor, unraveled a story of corruption and lack of accountability that lead to the Tuttle deaths.
Two officers, Goins and his Partner, Steven Bryant, retired from the department, and were charged with both state and federal crimes. Hundreds of cases were brought into doubt. Harris County District Attorney, Kim Ogg announced a thorough, deep investigation into the Houston PD, especially the Narcotics squad 15, which had conducted the raid.
Now, a year and a half after the murder of Dennis Tuttle and Rhogena Nicholas, a grand jury has come out with indictments for four more officers. All of the officers retired since the investigation into the raid began.
Prosecutors charged six officers, including Goins and Bryant, on 1 July, 2020.

Thanks for this update.
He probably wasn't planning to kill them. He just didn't expect his no-knock home invasion to be resisted by an armed citizen. His plan was more likely just to plant evidence on them, seize their property, and move on with his corrupt career.
In reality he was just doing what typical home invading criminals do. But he was using the police department and the drug forfeiture laws as a cover. That's why there are new charges related to the stealing of funds from the money seized in the drug "investigations" of these corrupt cops.
Some culpability in this should also be assigned to the judge that wrote the blank check for the raid.
Yeah. I’m a “nobody.” Think of three fingers pointed backward, eh?
To whom? The lawmen? to Sans-Culotte? To you? Are you taking up someone else's offenses?
Yup, and if the amount of drugs is so small that it can be 'destroyed' so easily and quickly, the raid probably shouldn't happen in the first place.
Wow. Only a year and a half to finally press charges. Who wants to bet the DA tanks the case and they get off?
Thanks to a police union that feels job #1 is to never let bad things happen to cops, no matter what, “back the blue” is blind. It’s really “we don’t kill THAT many people, come on”.
To Sans-Culotte. I get what he meant by a “nobody”.
There, fixed that.
Malls are not there to serve the public?
Ended. Allowing them to continue on any level is just moving the ball up slope temporarily. When they were first approved by the courts they were supposed to be rare, only in cases of extreme expected danger to the officers. 30 odd years later here we are. They gotta end.
In which case, he should never have been involved in a raid.
If you are serving a warrant, ESPECIALLY a "no knock" one, then ALL officers present must be in uniform, and with running camera. And any "failure" of a camera must be considered negatively by the jury.
Thanks for the background.
The Tuttles were surprised as there was no reason for a dynamic raid and thought it was a home invasion and shot back. They apparently didnt hear the police! or just reacted.
How many riots did it take to get the indictments? Oh...wait; white victims. Never mind!
Mall cops are rarely armed, and do not have any form of immunity from prosecution for criminal acts.
Goines and Bryant were charged about 7 months out.
About a month later they and the neighbor were charged with Federal charges.
These are additional charges for four more officers.
It takes a while to investigate corruption going back many years.
I expect more charges to come.
The DA says they are in the third phase of the investigation, the details of the actual shooting event.
So they still haven’t actually investigated the shooting?! Yeah, he’s hoping the cops do the “honorable thing” and he never actually has to go to court.
The DA is a soros plant. She has a turnstile for criminals. Bet she throws the book at the cops.
