Massachusetts congressional candidate Ihssane Leckey says she wants to "dismantle every oppressive system" in America even though these were the same systems that helped her immigrate to America from Northern Africa and achieve a successful life and career.
Leckey, who is running to fill Rep. Joe Kennedy's seat in Massachusetts's 4th congressional district, says she immigrated to America from Morocco at the age of 20 and was able to become the "first person in her family to graduate from college."
However, in a new ad, she claims that the same country that helped her "start from nothing to become successful" was built on the "suffering of its people."

AOC might have been born on American territory, thus legally-speaking, a member of the American State but not of the American Nation, and this distinction makes all the difference, IMO.
As loathsome as they are, they aren’t foreigners. Tlaib was born in Detroit. Ocasio-Cortez was born in New York. Sawant and Jayapal are duly naturalized U.S. citizens.
Omar is a not-so-duly-naturalized U.S. citizen, although she remains a citizen unless and until her naturalization is revoked.
The last time I checked, the Bronx was in the State of New York.
I don’t know what your personal definitions of “state” and “nation” are that you base that distinction on, but they’re not legally relevant.
