We need to stop private people from getting private patents where the research is paid for by the US taxpayer. The US Treasury should own all of those patents. If I develop software while being paid to do it by a company, the company owns the property rights, not me. Should be the same for all in the medical community.

"Gain of function" of a virus coincidentally depends on who gains and benefits.
There definitely were economic benefits to the Chinese nationals : control of PPE production, N-95 masks, economic shut down worldwide, worldwide panic, media controlled panic for political gain,
financial indebtedness to China, failure to timely report virus to WHO, China lying about human-to-human infection rate, China destroying early medical records of virus,
China's prosecution of physicians forcing retraction statements, WHO continuing the lie about the impact, and the impact on the USA 2020 election cycle.
Now ask yourself : Who benefits ??
