We need to stop private people from getting private patents where the research is paid for by the US taxpayer. The US Treasury should own all of those patents. If I develop software while being paid to do it by a company, the company owns the property rights, not me. Should be the same for all in the medical community.

My late father had his name on 16 patents, all of them held by his then-employer. So long as he was cashing their paychecks those inventions belonged to them. He didn’t find that to be unfair in any way, despite the fact that the royalties could have had him living the life of luxury. He had agreed to those terms when he took the job and he lived up to the deal.
