CHICAGO (CBS) Is Chicagos Magnificent Mile at risk for massive store closures? Just two months ago it was the epicenter of unrest. Then this week there was a murder on Oak Street and Michigan Avenue. All of that is on top of a pandemic that has taken a toll on everyone. The Mag Mile businesses arent unique, but Ald. Brian Hopkins (2nd) said it is the recent violence and spike in burglaries that is causing real concern now.
A Chicago icon, the Magnificent Miles 13 blocks are known across the world. Its a draw for tourists and a serious boost to the citys bottom line. What would the city look like without all of this? Hopkins says we could find out.

They can change the name from Chicagoland to Grootland.
Detroit looks like paradise suddenly, in comparison to Chicago. Whitmer apparently stays the hell out of there. The people support the cops in Detroit.
Magnificent bump
I thought that got canceled when Freddie Prinze died.
Is that Minneapolis after the looking, arson, and evil leveled the place?
Ya think? what happeneds when there is no more to loot? Will they venture into the suburbs to try thier luck? Surprises are what I like
Detroit. It never recovered after the 1967 riots.
You’re right - never recovered. Chicago won’t either...
Here’s a picture of Minneapolis:

Or books.
There insurance could become so high that it will not be worth staying in that area!!
I taught at one of the universities for three years. Although I loved my job, just had to leave the city. Haven’t been back. I don’t think I am missing anything.
Too bad Dailey didn’t push them to Gary.
That’s supposed to be funny.
After that wannabe rapper was shot down in broad daylight on Oak Street last week, store owners were already talking about leaving...even breaking their leases and letting the chips fall where they may. After yesterday morning, I suspect the dominoes have started falling in Chicago.
I think Detroit could have recovered if it had only had riots in 1967, IIRC Detroit had riots in '67;'68; and '69. I believe that a modest recovery only started in the late 90s, fully 30 years later.
This article sounds like someone is belatedly realizing that once established businesses leave replacing them is easier said than done.
I’m not one to say nice things about Detroit, but the city has spent $$$ and the last 15 years well. The Downtown and Mid Town districts are awesome.
Don’t go north of Wayne State U and don’t get close to Dearborn.
Just another spot of proof about which is worse for a city/country....
Atom Bomb or Liberal Leadership...
Check pictures of Hiroshima/Nagasaki in 1946 and 2020
Now check pictures of Detroit & Chicago for same years.
I ‘rest my case’.
Funny how all the “forward thinking” places that Hillary won are being threatened with anarchy.... I thought minorities were happy living amongst such enlightened people?
SHOOT LOOTER
JUST KILL THEM
PILE THEM UP
Toss them in the middle of the lake.
FISH FOOD
All those commie / anarchists standing in front of the burning building like it is perfectly normal! Seeing uncontrolled fires is bad enough, but seeing commie bastards acting like the destruction is normal is ultra-infuriating.
