Therein lies the false dreams of every Leftist ideolog. In the history of the world, government directed mandates have always failed in the long run, and truly free markets have always been successful.
These dreamers use FDR and WWII as their model of success (the only one they know). Yet it was free markets that drove that success. Within days after Pearl Harbor, Henry Kaiser was given a DOD purchase order to produce 50 AIRCRAFT CARRIERS, with the first to be delivered in 6 months. He was chastised because it took 9. Todays government ordered aircraft carriers take over ten years, mostly because of red tape. Environmental Impact is a good part of that.
It was Henry Ford who designed the B-24 bomber plant on the back of an envelop and was soon producing B-24s at the rate of one an hour. There were no "government mandates" for any of this, only "the invisible hand of markets".
It is indeed only government meddling that has produced the Fairy Dream of Catastrophic Global Warming. This "warming" has come only from biased computer models, and clearly not from actual thermometer readings. The only warming that is scientifically provable is that which warms the hearts of power hungry Leftist mandators. Anyone who thinks that heat pumps and electric vehicles are "available technology" that will solve all our "carbon free energy" problems has never lived where the outside temperature goes well below zero degrees F. It does that over a good part of the planet earth. I've used EVs, air-to-air heat pumps, and ground water heat pumps, none is bullet proof where I live.

Marxist Maxine Waters already went on record at a hearing that she wants to nationalize/”socialize” the oil companies.
