Scuffles erupt outside Newbury Park [CA] church holding indoor services without mask requirement, despite judge’s ban

As worshippers poured into Godspeak Calvary Chapel for a 9 a.m. service, a crowd swelled outside with those rallying in support of the church clashing with counter-protesters.

Video showed an unmasked man holding an American flag facing off with another man in a mask who was carrying a sign that read: “God can hear you from Home! Don’t be Freedumb.”

The masked man taps the sign on the other man’s head, prompting him to pull the sign away, starting a scuffle that ended with a woman being kicked to the ground.

Ventura County sheriff’s Capt. Eric Buschow said about 100 to 150 people were gathered outside, and several “minor scuffles” broke out during the protests. But no injuries were reported, `and no one was arrested.

Those rallying in support of the church could be seen holding up signs with phrases such as “1st amendment right to assemble” and “stop the tyranny,” while counter-protesters’ signs included one that read: “This church endangers us all.”

The vast majority appeared to be there to support the church.

Don’t we have a Constitution that guarantees the right of freedom of worship?<P?Oh, yeah, I forgot. According to Justice Roberts we don’t. Guess it’s that lousy law school education I got. Didn’t to to Harvard.

[[Is that considered “assault” in legal terms?]]

Only when conservatives or Trump supporters do it- when liberals do it, the police consider it ‘peaceful protesting’

Yet, there stands the protestor, at ground zero...

This is what Demonrats want everywhere: SHUT DOWN churches, and what churches are left must wear the mask of the beast. Not where I worship.

“Health” is how the Deep State plans to destroy Christian worship. It’s all for your own good, you know. (What BULL!)

A church service “endangers us all” but a riot is just fine. Got it.

They weren't 'counter protestors'. They weren't even protestors. They were a mob attacking church goers. The church goers weren't protesting. They were going to church, so there was no protest to counter.

They keep saying that word. I don't think it means what they think it means.

Not only does the the Constitution guarantee freedom of religion it’s the FIRST words of the FIRST Amendment! Couldn’t get any more obvious than that.

But it was a “mostly peaceful” protest.

Whether you think attending the church service is right or wrong, turning up to protest seems counterproductive from a “health” standpoint. Aren’t you “Safer at Home!” as the adds from our state government say?

Assault can be verbal, a confrontation w/o words or contact. Battery is usually written as unlawful and unwanted contact. Touching someone with the conditions of an assault ay equate to battery, use an object ( like a stick holding sign, and it may rise to higher degrees of A&B. It all varies by state/county city law/ordinances.

In my view, anyone confronting me or surprising me with unlawful contact espc. if using something other than their hands, is a serious act. Of course, reason dictates that an good assessment be made of any situation.
