Actually, the President has all kinds of authority to do all sorts of executive actions during a declared national emergency
For instance, he does not have the funds or authority to give all a $1,200 check. He does however have authority create a payroll tax holiday that puts money directly into the pockets of those working.
So, the President put money into the hands of both those unemployed and those actually working. Both groups will be better off still in November.
The President has in fact done what he was elected to do, lead the country out of the emergency morass into better times
The wife would see 60% of the $1200 (stimulus check) in payroll tax savings, but I will see a bit more than 2x the $1200. So yes better off.
Been wondering how this works for a sole proprietor who pays the entire amount...
