The companies that make up the world of Big Tech have some competition coming with the creation and rising popularity of new apps Parler and Triller.
As the push for fairness in Big Tech continues from President Donald Trump and others, companies such as Parler and Triller are looking to topple social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and TikTok from the top.
Parler was launched in 2018 as an alternative to Twitter and Facebook by University of Denver graduates John Matze and Jared Thomson. The point of the app? Free speech.
"There are going to be no fact checkers, Matze told Forbes in an interview published in June. Youre not going to be told what to think and what to say. A police officer isnt going to arrest you if you say the wrong opinion. I think thats all people want. Thats what they like.
Those sites are tricky to make a profit on.
Twitter had a hard time for years making a profit.
The CEO of Parler was talking about that.
Even a huge increase in numbers doesn’t equal a huge increase in revenue.
I hope he and his guys figure it out.
I guess it’s not as cut and dry as TV where more viewers equals higher prices for ads.
I’m going to check out those sites.
Interesting! Thanks for posting this!
Turn the USPS into a social media hub.
Let Americans sign up for a secured email address where they can get all their mail and engage in Tweeting like Twitter now. For a monthly or annual premium, they can get their own page, complete with video and social media.
This would create massive revenue for the Post Office.
Www.rantingly.com along with justthenews.com are now my go to news sites. Might want to check out if not done so already.
” not as cut and dry as TV where more viewers equals higher prices for ads. “
TV isn’t that cut and dry either.
Ultimately advertising spending is determined by net profit.
Doesn’t matter how many viewers an advertiser gets- only that those viewers spend the extra money to pay for the ads and more.
Big Tech i.e. Google, FB, maybe MSFT can and will eventually offer enough cash to buy each one of these if it reaches a threshhold of effectiveness. Who is going to turn down a couple of billion dollars?
You can have an audience full of cheapskates :-)
That’s why I believe conservatives have a hard time succeeding in the media.
All us conservatives are cheapskates!
Paying extra for a company’s advertising almost always means paying too much.
Advertisers look, in general, at numbers. But at the end of the day it’s profits from sales that determine their ad spending.
Stupid people who don’t know the value of a dollar- Liberals- make great advertising targets!
Big Tech is an opt-in annoyance. The political activism is certainly a problem however. I thought there were limits.
Anyway, Big Telecom is the real threat. But few seem to give a damn. Federally licensed telecom manipulating information and disparaging conservatives and POTUS.
The #1 telecom owns CNN
The #3 telecom ones MSNBC
Beyond me why this is tolerated.
The Never Trumpers granted the minority DNC every demand they made.
I do not know a solution to the Never Trumpers.
What made bigtech BIGTECH was the illusion that we couldn’t live without it! Steve Jobs convinced the world they couldn’t live without Apple products. Conservatives by nature will not stoop to that level and therefore we will never have the societal impact that marxists have!
Amazon got to be “Big Tech” by cheating states and localities out of sales tax revenue.
Freepers loved that LOL!
Politicians allowed it, for donations from Amazon.
Its the same solution to the socialists.
Seriously.
You hit the nail on the head!
OMG, I hope and pray that they succeed.
Wont that be even more expensive for USPS to maintain? How will they pay for all the servers?
I am not a cheapskate! I let my date pay for only half the bill, it’s not like i made her pay the whole amount- sheesh! j/k
The tech monopoly has to be stomped first.
Not as expensive as USPS paying the pensions of retirees and mail carriers to deliver junk mail everyday.
