Local media reported Saturday that three individuals were taken into custody in connection with the shooting death the day after Lt. Troy Morris, 58, who worked part-time for the U.S. Postal Service, was found.

According to WLBT-TV, the three suspects were apprehended in Louisiana. Morris was found dead in the USPS vehicle on U.S. 61 in Jefferson County around 4:30 a.m., according to reports. Jefferson County Sheriff James Bailey told WAPT-TV that Morris was driving the truck when he got a flat.

He said Morris called MHP and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department to report the flat and asked if someone could be dispatched to watch the truck while he waited for the Postal Service to send another truck, according to the station.

“We dispatched a deputy who arrived a short time later and found Mr. Morris had been shot to death inside his truck,” Bailey said.

This nation is coming unglued. They WILL find who shot him since he was a trooper AND was working for the USPS. Now, if they would pursue the assaults/shootings against regular citizens on roadways these days with equal vigor. Oh, never mind.

Damn, RIP Lieutenant. I sure hope that Mississippi state troopers are allowed to carry when they work these part time gigs.

Hope they catch the perp(s) quickly.

Day in and day out. It gets to the point of just being numb. This is so tragic and awful. The demons of hell were loosed on the land during the Obama era. All I can think of is Lock and Load

btw, I agree with your statement 100%.

All citizens can carry concealed without permit and with few restrictions.

This makes me ill. Mississippi has lost several LEOs in past couple of years.

USPS employees, full or PT, may not be armed when operating USPS vehicles or on USPS property. Federal law, BTW.

U.S. is slow-walking to becoming another Cambodia...

The Khmer Rouge demoncrats under the leadership of Pol Pot Pel Lousy, are who radically pushing CambodiaAmerica towards communism.

And nothing is being done about it... Just as was the case in the 1970's Cambodia...

I would suspect this was not accidental and that things were placed in the road to flatten his mail truck tire.

He’s quite a man...Highway Patrol lieutenant AND working a second job as a USPS truck driver. Just makes me sick that vermin like that can take the life of such a good man.

As a federal crime, I hope they are tried and, if found guilty, executed ASAP.

Truly a bunch of feral predators.
You can’t even have a flat tire at 4:30 in the morning?
They must have been headed home for the night.
