The battle over hydroxychloroquine began as a kind of trivial but apparently earnest and hopeful celebrity endorsement of the drug (the celebrity being President Trump). It has devolved into a real political and public-discourse horror show.
Perpetual back-and-forths between those prominent doctors who do not believe in the drugs effectiveness coronavirus task force members Anthony Fauci and Brett Giroir are two and dissident, lesser-known doctors, such as Harvey Risch of Yale University, have given birth to serious questions about how truly scientific the whole conversation has been.
Can hydroxychloroquine be used effectively to treat COVID-19? The most prominent voices say no, citing several randomized controlled trials, but others say it is, citing their own clinical evidence.
The question that nobody seems to be asking is, what is the standard of evidence required for granting emergency use authorizations, or EUAs, for drugs in the first place? And what are the limits of various kinds of clinical trials?
The Food and Drug Administration approved an EUA for use of hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine in hospitalized patients on March 28. Importantly, for the purpose of reinforcing distinct categories, its authorization was for a targeted use: hospitalized patients. When the FDA authorized the drug, there was no significant evidence of effectiveness from randomized controlled trials, or RCTs.
In a March 28 letter on authorization, FDA Chief Scientist Denise Hinton wrote, Based upon limited in-vitro and anecdotal clinical data in case series, chloroquine phosphate and hydroxychloroquine sulfate are currently recommended for treatment of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in several countries
FDA is issuing this EUA to facilitate the availability of chloroquine phosphate and hydroxychloroquine sulfate during the COVID-19 pandemic to treat patients for whom a clinical trial is not available, or participation is not feasible.

HCQ is evil
It only deceives and kills Americans
In many other countries like Switzerland, India, Brazil, China...doctors prescribe it and in Central America you can buy it OTC
Nancy Pelosi proclaimed cannabis an effective treatment. Dr Fauchi has yet to cite the double blind studies backing her claim.
Her son Paul Pelosi is a big time investor in cannabis

HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE IS NOT EFFECTIVE UNLESS ZINC SULFATE IS USED ALSO. HCQ STRIPS THE PROTEIN OFF THE VIRUS AND ZINC KILLS IT. THAT IS THE OPINION OF PHYSICIANS USING IT WITH SUCCESS.
You were on a ship with Fauci and there is a man overboard who cannot swim. There is no life saver available but there is a wooden table nearby. You don’t know whether it will float but you think its worth a try and attempt to throw it overboard.
That is when Fauci comes and stops you and scolds you that the table has not been subject to proper testing protocols and could be dangerous to the man overboard if it sinks.
Choice 1: You thank Fauci for almost causing the man harm and make Fauci your hero.
Choice 2: You throw the table anyways.
We’re still talking about it because the drug might actually work (probably does work) which would tend to allow the re-opening of the American economy before 11/3/20. The Democrats simply can’t allow that to happen.
Until recently was OTC in the UK too.
Choice 3: Throw Fauci in and tell him to save the man.
DOesn’t help of course that Trump claims it is all about him just in the sense of their opposing it because he said it was good. Meanwhile he has forked over billions to Big Pharma as spoils on the global hoax being perpetrated, and continued to employ and promote his hired departmental “experts” who are really in on and perpetrating the hoax.
The answer to the question is simply “Trump Hate”..
It comes down to the FDA reg on Emergency Use Authorization.
“Under section 564 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act), the FDA Commissioner may allow unapproved medical products or unapproved uses of approved medical products to be used in an emergency to diagnose, treat, or prevent serious or life-threatening diseases or conditions caused by CBRN threat agents when there are no adequate, approved, and available alternatives.”
Note carefully that last part. If HCQ gets recognized as a viable treatment, it PRECLUDES fast tracking of other (expensive) drugs and vaccines under “Emergency Use”
> “prominent doctors who do not believe in the drugs effectiveness ... Anthony Fauci and Brett Giroir are two ...”
Fauci is a federal bureaucrat who hasn’t seen a patient in more than 30 years. He is a poster boy for DC corruption.
Giroir is a bureaucrat Admiral in the public health venue. His background was mixed in vaccine development, he was forced out of his vaccine development job in Texas. He quoted the VA study on HCQ now known to be fraudulent. He’s hardly a prominent anything to weigh in on HCQ.
Because nobody in America is willing to admit they’re wrong anymore. Not even a little. And the punchline with this one is both sides are wrong. It is NOT the massive cure all one side insists, it’s also NOT useless like the other side demands. It’s kind of useful sometimes. But you’ll never get people to admit the middle.
As long as Trump keeps Fauci around, I pay no attention to any of this crap. Trump is an absolute fool on this matter, and none of his staff has the guts to tell him that.
It amazes me the people that believe Trump is in bed with big oil, Wallstreet, the Russians and many others but can’t fathom Fauci is in bed with big Pharma.
Why are we still arguing about Hydroxychloroquine as treatment for Covid-19?
Because there’s an election this November.
Just saw my doctor last week - he recommends zinc and querceitn, which is available in local health food stores. He says the querceitn is just as effective without any of the side effects. All of his family and staff are using this - one pill a day may hold the virus off and will minimize its impact if you get it - or so he says.
It is evil unless you put zinc with it. Then it is a cure. Even in America
