SAN JOSE — A grand jury has indicted four people, including a Santa Clara County Sheriff’s captain and campaign committee leader, in an alleged pay-to-play political favoritism with concealed-gun permits issued by the Sheriff’s Office, marking the first major announcement in an investigation that has been going on for more than a year.

For years only the 'well connected' could get a CCW in Santa Clara County. In a county of around 2 million there are 147 permits according to the article though that number is high as 50 permits is closer to the real number. There is NO SECOND AMENDMENT in this county because 'more democrats = less freedom'. And the fetid supreme court allows this theft of my rights, bastards.

This is Standard Procedure in Los Angeles and Orange County, and has been for Many years, ell it has been made Public numerous times and they publicly brag about it. Selling Government Permits to friends for Cash is the way it as always been done.

The only legislative/administrative body that should be allowed to enact any restriction of gun manufacture, importation, distribution, sales, purchases and ownership is the United States Congress.

And,of course any restriction enacted by Congress would be subject to scrutiny by the Federal courts.

“...is the United States Congress...”

Maybe it’s just me but that’s just about the last place I’d trust.

I can’t believe Laurie has been there twenty years. I was “affiliated” with SCSO when she was first elected.
The previous Sheriff was the same way - you had to know someone. I voted for the other guy (Ping? - something like that)
Probably it’s time for a new Sheriff in Santa Clara County.

Prior to around 2001 Michigan required gun board approvals for CPL permits and in the city of Detroit it was almost impossible to get one unless you were politically connected.

Then in 2001 we became a Shall Issue state and that took care of the problem.

Her employees have been trying to get rid of her for the last two elections.

I’ve known Laurie for over 30 years and I can’t get a CCW.

The City Council sets the bar higher for qualifying than what should it be.

Where I come from... everyone knows the only people allowed a ccp are friends of the “issuing authority”. Or those who are willing to pay $5,000 to sue in court to be granted the privileg. That 2nd ammendment shit dont mean nothing here.

Dosent matter if you have a prohibitive record, it only matters who you know, or how much you are willing to pay.

Been going on forever in these blue zones.

Imagine that. Corruption in a “may issue” system.

With that comment I can safely say,my FRiend, that you've never been to Massachusetts...that you've never met a Massachusetts state legislator...that you've never met a Massachusetts Governor.

I'm far more willing to trust that the United States Congress would "do the right thing" regarding a particular Constitutional right than would any of the amoral wastes of oxygen elected here in the Gay State.

When all that “shall” issue bullshit came up, our creative legislature changed it to “may” issue. As in all blue areas... nothing changes... except the poverty of spirit.

Your constitutional right is determined by an “issuing authority” human type... person. My rights came from a god, not a man.

I never cared about any of their law shit since the communists started writing them anyhow.

I hear you brother. But the thought of a Pelosi house, Schumer senate and Biden presidency is rather disconcerting.

Actually, I did live in MA for a year...’65-’66...when I was stationed at Westover AFB. Enjoyed it very much. Great food, fun people with yankee accent and sense of humor, beautiful countryside, etc. Toured S & W plant twice. Member of Holyoke Revolver Club. Got a CCW (I still have original) simply by asking the Chicopee Chief of Police! So all in all
I have very fond memories of MA. But alas that was when America was still America and God only knows what has happened during the intervening years. Good luck with that.
