Caregiver, 19, is arrested after horrifying footage shows him slapping a frail 88-year-old man in the face and screaming 'how stupid are you' at the elderly victim

A 19-year-old caregiver has been arrested after horrifying footage showed him slapping a frail 88-year-old man in the face and screaming 'how stupid are you' at his victim.

Graphic home surveillance footage shows the on-duty caregiver hitting the unidentified man, who requires full-time care of basic needs, several times in the face and violently dragging him out of his wheelchair while shouting abuse at him.

Deputies from Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said Delgado also hit his victim in the face, head and stomach multiple times.

The disturbing video released by HCSO begins with Delgado pulling the old man off the bed and sitting him down in a wheelchair before the caregiver casually slaps his victim hard across the face.

He then tells the 88-year-old to 'relax'.

'It's okay, it's okay. Relax,' he says.

Delgado then tries to pull the vulnerable man to his feet and slaps him again in the face.

The abuser appears to get more irate at this point and starts to yell abuse in the old man's face.

'You're a f**ing idiot! Like how stupid are you?' he screams, as he pulls his own headphones out.

Delgado then forcefully yanks the frail man from the wheelchair while slapping him again in the face and dragging him back toward the bed.

Authorities said Delgado then proceeded to abuse the victim, pushing him onto the bed and punching him in the stomach three times.

Delgado was arrested Wednesday night with the help of Pasco Sheriff's Office, just hours after the shocking incident took place.

Sheriff Chad Chronister branded his actions 'deplorable' and said he had broken the trust placed in him as a caregiver.

Delgado was charged with abuse of an elderly or disabled adult and battery.

“Most folks can not afford them....”

Actually the cost of this one was was relatively reasonable.....About 4K/month which is pretty average for that type of facility.

Would you say the same if you knew the elderly man is a Naval war vet? Or this puke was “caring” for you and yours in such a manner? You can kill someone so frail with such behavior.

Just what is wrong with you? Having such “compassion “ for this uncivilized animal is beyond the pall. You are naive.
Hopefully, he will experience justice through the justice system or through the family of the guy assaulted...or both.

I have in no way excused this teen’s behavior. I affirm that he must be held accountable, and it would be right for him to be fined and spend time behind bars and to be publicly scorned. What he did is wrong, and he needs to face justice.

I guess being a follower of Christ makes me a bit more compassionate toward sinners than most FReepers. I would like to see this man’s life turn around; I don’t want to see him “cancelled,” either metaphorically or literally.

I don’t understand why anyone can’t have complex feelings about this case — wanting justice for the abused and redemption for the abuser.

I guess I’m an idiot for thinking we can feel both.

Agreed. He should not have been in that position. The employers bear some responsibility (though the teen bears the brunt of responsibility for his disgusting behavior).

just some thoughts on getting to this stage in life..

I hope most freepers have tons of money because if you expect you or your loved ones to live and live and live you are going to pay, pay, pay....

clearly, this old man was total care...could have used two people helping him....

nursing homes and other senior living facilities do not have enough caregivers to provide 24/7 total care for these patients.....its impossible...

yet so many want their elderly to just keep barely living, demented, incontinent, frail, unable to walk, unable to do much of anything...

is this the way we want to die...

no me....

"I can only feel for the families who are forced to put their elderly members into these snake pits."

families aren't "forced" to do anything....they don't have to ...they can keep them home.....we can't expect strangers to care for these people like family would....

"It was a crime in itself to put that young man in a care-giver position."

he was immature....same things happen when immature young people have babies....they can't handle the frustration and end up hitting the baby or child....

You are correct. The family is as much to blame is he is. Putting their love one in that position. I would have put someone like that in charge of my wife.In fact, when she was in the hospital, one morning a young male nurse came in the room, drew the curtain and announced “I’m here to check you for bed sores”. I said to him, “No, you are not checking for anything. “No, you are not checking for anything. You go tell your boss if they want her checked, send a female nurse in.” He became indignant, but the bottom line was that he did not check her and in a few minutes a female came in and she was checked. As she had been before.

As a former DON of a nursing home, I can tell you that “there are not enough aides”, is because owners and administrators won’t hire more than the bare state mandated minimum. It’s all about the profits. The best staffed nursing home I ever worked at was a non-profit county home. They had plenty of aides, and excellent care was given.

In a just world he will receive the same 'loving care' when he is an old man......well down the road after being Bull's bitch in prison.

The person that hired this 'kid', my ass 19 years old he's a punk ass man, and the lazy ass that supposedly supervised him should be fired for negligence and I hope this old man's family as well as the families of others that were abused sue the owners of the place into oblivion!

Give him the max, without parole, if possible. When people are trying to burn the USA down, only the max allowable for any crime will do.
