Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. taking leave after questionable Instagram posts

Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. is taking an indefinite leave of absence, the university said on Friday.

In a brief statement, the Executive Committee of Liberty’s board of trustees said met with Falwell on Friday and made its request, “to which he has agreed, effective immediately.”

The one-sentence statement did not provide a reason for Falwell’s departure from the post he’s held since the death of his father, famed evangelist Jerry Falwell, more than a decade ago. Falwell has also been a close friend and spiritual adviser to President Donald Trump.

His departure marks a dramatic end to a week of controversy that started Sunday evening when a Houston Chronicle reporter posted photos that Falwell had shared, then deleted, on his public Instagram account. In one photo, Falwell is seen with his stomach exposed and pants zipper undone next to a pregnant woman who he later clarified was his wife’s assistant.

Not good. He knew the Left was after him with a recent lawsuit. They are loving every minute of this.

Yeah, that was a really stupid photo to put on social media. I don’t rush to judgement, who knows what he was thinking or doing at the time. I’ve lost weight the last 6 months but many Americans have gained weight sitting around eating chips. Maybe his jeans were too tight. I dunno.

But he’s taking a leave of absence, maybe the right thing for him... to take a break and think many things over will be good for him. I wish him, or anybody really, no ill will.

“Here, hold muh beer.”

The stupidity of that photo exceeds stupidity on meth. He is not a meth head. I suspect much alcohol abuse.

He needs help.

That’s just nasty.

Here I thought it was another BLM moment.

After all the flack he caught for keeping Liberty University open, and skating through it because there wasn't a big outbreak, how can anybody make an unforced error like this?

BTW, the athletic director at Liberty is Ian McCaw. Guy can't catch a break. He was the athletic director at Baylor when Briles was there.

I don’t always act stupidly, but when I do, I stay away from social media.

I think he was just being silly. Considering his position, he should not have posted it.

He’s always seemed pretty much of a lightweight for the position he’s in. We oughta send him up to Hillsdale for a few lessons with Dr. Arnn. Now there’s a college president.

Comporting oneself with dignity is like gun safety. A small amount of consistent effort makes it unconscious. The benefits are obvious.
