No, you don't need religion to believe in God, but rejecting all church connections because of claimed hypocrisy is just an excuse to not commit fully.
I’ve always thought that was the biggest cop-out.
They act like this, so I think they’re that, and I’m not going to be a part of their gathering.
There isn’t one Christian who has ever lived that hasn’t been a hypocrite at one time (or hundreds or thousands) in their lifetime.
We’re human too. Impatient, impulsive, impetuous, and all the above. We try not to be, but we fail (1 John 1:8).
So a Christian has treated you bad? Join the club. Happens to me daily.
