Its likely a late false positive. Remember that this is a lower respiratory tract infection so it takes up to 90 days to turn over the lowest parts of this system. We are alternating positive and negative for up to three months. This means he had the disease and cleared it most likely as the test checks for any virus particle even if dead or inactivated

Other explanations- such as that it was an error are reasonable too.
