For at least thirty years I have been compelled to consider that sort of possibility. If Science Fiction and Futurists can think of it... The loss of words probably speaks for itself.
"Mr. Boy" is a science fiction novella by American writer James Patrick Kelly, originally published in the June 1990 issue of Asimov's Science Fiction.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._BoyHis mother has assumed the form of a three-quarters scale replica of the Statue of Liberty (also through gene twanking), which Peter lives inside. Peter has only ever interacted with his mother through robotic avatars which she controls her private quarters in the statue's head are inaccessible.
"Mister Boy" (1990) Science Fiction story by James Patrick KellyKelly: It strikes me that when you look out and see body mods of this and that (not too many nose rings here in the room or tattoos but you can't always see tattoos), you see a pale shadow of what these yearnings to mark ourselves in a way that says "This is who I am" will be capable of in a hundred years. And, I wrote a story called "Mister Boy" in which we have such complete control over our genome that we can transform ourselves into basically anything that is biological. And even some things that are biological constructs of other things. The main character in "Mister Boy" is a boy who is going to be twelve for the rest of his life. He has been genetically changed such that he will be nearly immortal and twelve. I think I must have had some sort of shocking puberty because I do not want my characters to ever get hair, you know. (laughter). And, in that same story, there's a boy who has had himself genetically manipulated to look like a velociraptor and he's just happy with it, and the mom is a biological construct, a skin of cells hung on a skyscraper frame. She looks like the Statue of Liberty. To some extent, these things are metaphors too, (laughter) and that is a thing about science fiction: you can have this big metaphorical thing, say a mom that somebody lives inside, and you can tap dance around and look at your science and say that 'this actually could be possible!! And, what do you think of that?' And in good science fiction, the tap dancing is so skillful that it hides the fact that the big metaphor is sitting there looking at you off the cover of the book and in fact you are busy saying 'Wait a minute, that is interesting, could that actually happen, how close are we to this? What are the implications of a society where you can do this?' When I was a kid, we grew our hair long, that was easy! Tattooing is harder, nose rings are harder still. What if, instead of buying the latest Nikes, you could have your legs cut off and have Nike legs and you're all of a sudden Michael Jordan. If you've got the dough and you can take the pain, and the society does not just automatically say you are insane to doing such a thing, that would be a big thing! Believe me, people would do that all the time.
I’ve known this family, my child is/was a friend of this child, now adult, since they were toddlers, for over 20 years.
The parents pushed this, the school pushed this, all the “friends” accepted this. The medical treatment, surgeries, were paid for by an organization that promotes this.
You can’t find the article of his decline. You can’t find the article of his depression and suicidal thoughts. You can’t find the article of whats happening to him now that all the media is gone.
The parents are to blame. This wouldn’t have happened if her parents hadn’t done this to her.
And her/his surgery was paid for...everything was paid for...the district got tons of money for this...the family got tons of money for this.
Losers. The kids will need therapy eventually
```
So do the parents ...
A REAL therapist would help him sort out his gender dysphoria issues and not just reinforce his mental illness.
Nope. Sexual preference has a very large learned component. There is a pretty famous study (or it was before it was memory-holed) where a group of researchers showed volunteers porn pictures, while randomly interspersing pictures of things like tires in with the porn. After numerous sessions, they measured the physical arousal (so no self-reporting issues with this study) in both male and female participants when shown various inanimate objects. When pictures of tires were shown, the participants became physically aroused, even if not aware of their own arousal.
This tracks very well with surveys that show that gays and lesbians often were molested as children. Their bodies reacted to the stimulus sexually, shaping their preference, even though their minds at that age did not.
There might be a minuscule number of people (in a population of 8 billion people, just about anything is possible) who are born gay or with some kind of gender issues. But nowhere near the numbers we are seeing now. Trans is a fad, much like LUG (Lesbian Until Graduation) was in the late nineties. It’s mostly learned behavior, and, in any case, the treatment for mental illness is always to change the mind to fit the body, not the other way around.
Gayness, as a fad, as gone up and down in popularity throughout the ages. In Roman times it was very popular, therefore lots of gays and imaginary of them in recorded history.
If it’s popular with the times it explodes. If not, it doesn’t. That’s a clear indicator that something cultural/behavioral is learned from an early age. If nothing else.
