There was a great movie released in 2014 called Kingsman: The Secret Service. Part of the plot is that a billionaire bad guy (played by Samuel L. Jackson) gave everyone in the world SIM cards (which is in reality a sort of mind control device) that grant free lifetime cellular and Internet connectivity. The bad guy activates the SIM in a church and epic carnage ensues.

Every time I hear about a real-world story like this one in Anaheim, I think of this scene. Do I think the real-life violence is chip-induced? No. But I do think the months of isolation, economic devastation, fatalities, bad news, and statist controls have facilitated a raw nerve/itchy-trigger-finger mindset in many people.
