After Talking "All Day Long" To Rich New Yorkers In The Hamptons, Cuomo Says He Can't Raise Their Taxes

Governor Andrew Cuomo still refuses to support taxes on the ultra-wealthy, because rich people already have one foot out of New York City, and he fears they'll leave for good if their taxes go up.

"I literally talk to people all day long who are in their Hamptons house who also lived here, or in their Hudson Valley house or in their Connecticut weekend house, and I say, 'You gotta come back, when are you coming back?'" Cuomo said during a press conference on Monday, when asked if he'd support a slate of tax hike proposals on the wealthy.

"'We'll go to dinner, I'll buy you a drink,'" Cuomo said, reenacting his conversations. "'Come over, I'll cook.' They're not coming back right now. And you know what else they're thinking? If I stay there, I pay a lower income tax because they don't pay the New York City surcharge."

Real estate will crash in New York, as well as other cities, with this work from home trend.

Who is going to lease all that expensive office space in all those high rises in New York City, if companies see that they can save huge amounts by not leasing that space, because employees are working from home?

How many employees of New York based companies, who have these work from home arrangements, will continue to live in New York City, if they don’t have to go to the office, or just go in once in a while? What if they see they can work from home from out of state for that New York based company?

Euphemisms like the following for “illegals” takes a group effort

>>There’s a billionaires’ tax to create a fund for workers excluded from typical government relief

If you telecommute from a New York office, your wages are subject to New York State income taxes. I don’t remember if that is NYC only, or NY State locations. A little known incentive for New York to have lots of telecommuters reporting into a NY office. All of the income tax revenue with no service requirements.

Nah, he won’t have a problem raising them on the middle class though!

As long as they're not New Yorkers and he doesn't have to answer to them. He wants the rest of the country to foot the bill for his lunacy.

The first contiguous state that opposes the deep Blue of New England states and goes bright Red will attract many of these Northeast companies. At this point we're perhaps looking at Tennessee that could be the beneficiary if they played their cards right. Nashville is exploding.

Cuomo had to talk all day long to rich New Yorkers before he cottoned on that rich people usually get the heck out of dodge when you keep raising taxes? Something everyone has known for thousands of years?
Maybe he should read the Bible some time.
And oh rioting, looting and murdering everyday, not to mention continuing lockdowns in Manhattan don't help matters either.

He never did that with the rest of us not rich Upstate NYers.

I guess he doesn’t care when he puts the screws to the hoi polloi.

And then he wonders why they are leaving NY in droves.

It took three people to write this story about this POS not raising taxes?

I took from it that Fredo's brother is only folding on taxing the wealthy. It is safe to assume that he's going to proceed with destroying the middle class with taxes.

Dirty little secret Cuomo won't tell you: owners of multimillion dollar homes in the Hamptons pay less in property tax annually than some owners of $200,000 to $300,000 existing homes in parts of Upstate NY.

And those Hamptons property owners are still choosing to vote with their feet.

Go figure.

Because between the two of those political midgets they couldn’t afford the the price of the step ladder they’d need so they could wipe Trump’s ass.

If you telecommute from a New York office, your wages are subject to New York State income taxes. I don’t remember if that is NYC only, or NY State locations.

New York City income taxes and employers' payroll taxes are based on the employee's actual location. New York under then-Mayor Bloomberg started that pissing contest with the L.A. Lakers and other sports teams.

Now, even sports players on New York teams live outside New York City, show up the morning of their game and then leave as soon as the game is over so that their income tax is only calculated for the day of the game. Many, such as Derek Jeter, changed their home address to Florida and flew back often enough during the regular season to avoid being considered New York State residents.

Apparently killing a bunch of them with his COVID nursing home abatoirs was enough.

The state of New York has an estate tax, so maybe there is a method to the madness. And there may be reduced number of necessary pension payments.
