A neighbor down the street is a Sheriff’s Deputy. My next door neighbor is an architect who happens to be a minority. I would go stand with either of them if they or their families were threatened. It isn’t about race, or occupation. They are friends and neighbors, period.

Still have to get the state Supreme Court to approve the the charges, and collect a lot of signatures. After that, the vote is scheduled. No one thinks there is a chance in hell he will be recalled. The number of people who are going to vote a sheriff out of office because he won’t enforce an unconstitutional edict can’t be more than 5%.

City Councilors are the ones needing “visitors”

“The local sheriff praised their efforts.
He has since been demoted.“

....the sheriffs in Washington are not elected to their seats?

“you must forcefully call for the end of these tactics”?

They are the folks that WANT the revolution to begin, comrade!

““I wanted to update you on recent events, particularly those that occurred late last night. A residence of mine in Snohomish County was targeted by a large group of aggressive protestors late last night,” Best wrote in a letter to City Council President Lorena González and Public Safety Chair Lisa Herbold.

The police chief reported that her heroic neighbors succeded in preventing violence. “My neighbors were concerned by such a large group, but they were successful in ensuring the crowd was not able to trespass or engage in other illegal behavior in the area, despite repeated attempts to do so,” she wrote. “

Translation - “I, a black police chief, now have to depend on white vigilantes to protect my property because the city council and mayor forbid me and my police officers to do our jobs.”

Seattle, for the past 4 years at least, has spent over $1 Billion a year on homeless and inequality. That’s $100K for every homeless man, woman and child - in the entire county. Every year.

So Seattle’s ‘community’ needs to explain to Seattle’s citizens where that funding went. (and buying new tents for homeless doesn’t count as ‘help’)

The Seattle protestors need to do some explaining, too:
1. Explain why they haven’t given up the murderers of 3 black youths in Chop, or the rapists, the abusers, the stabbers, and all the other criminals they are actively sheltering within their protest ranks.
2. Explain why they solicit $1,000 a Nite for ‘pizza’, and why they solicit donations on a daily basis to their Vemo and paypal accounts to ‘support our protesting and medical bills’ yet do no volunteer work in the ‘community’ they profess to support
3. Explain why, if they are concerned with local issues, they travel to Portland (and other cities btw) to riot, destroy property and antagonize and injure police, and, provide shelter for Portlanders (and those from other cities) to do the same in Seattle

The citizens of Snohomish (rural, 20(?) miles nw of Seattle) protected the main street while armed a few weeks ago. The local sheriff praised their efforts.

He has since been demoted.

I’m surprised the folks of Snohomish aren’t protesting in front of the town council.

I call BS on this.

Everywhere I know, the Sheriff is an elected official. How can he be "demoted" from an office he was elected to?

As 21twelve stated, there are several things going on in this post.

1. Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best has a house in Snohomish County, north of Seattle. The house suffered a protest, but was defended by locals. Chief Best was not there. Snohomish County has suburbs of Seattle, and cities, and is not necessarily rural.

2. The Snohomish County Sheriff has a recall petition going against him because he stood up to Gov. Inslee’s Covid directives.

3. There is a town called Snohomish, also in Snohomish County. A couple of months ago, the “peaceful protesters” were feeling out their support outside the big city, and protested through main street Snohomish. They were met with a bunch of well armed counter protesters. The woke crowd wisely stayed peaceful. Then the media lambasted the Snohomish city police chief for saying nice things about the armed citizens. He was demoted by the mayor of Snohomish.

4. Snohomish is a popular name around here. There is also a Snohomish River. It is the name of a native people local to Western Washington.

...As 21twelve stated, there are several things going on in this post...

No matter how many things are going on in the post, the idea of the Sheriff being "demoted" is pure and simple BS.

Simply admit the OP was wrong and move on. Don't try to throw up a smokescreen about confusion between all the Snohomishes in the area.

Snohomish County is north of King County and does not have any suburbs of Seattle. Seattle is in King County which ends at 205th Street north. Snohomish County has a lot of rural land although being on the I-5 corridor the county is purple at best.

The OP admitted he was wrong in a later post. So, I am not defending him, just clarifying what’s going on.

There is no pasture starting at 205th Street, just a continuous block of "cities" including Brier, Lynwood, and Edmonds.

You do know suburbs aren't contained by counties, and can even extend across state lines, right?

For example (from Wikipedia, but valid nonetheless): "Vancouver is a city on the north bank of the Columbia River in the U.S. state of Washington. It is the largest suburb of Portland, Oregon".

Chief Best is about Seattle's only hope that she will run for mayor next year. Best is a career Leo from Seattle, she has climbed the ladder from patrol officer to chief and seems the only sane person in a leadership position in that town.

https://lynnwoodtimes.com/2020/08/02/hundreds-of-blm-supporters-storm-snohomish-county-neighborhood-to-protest-at-seattle-police-chief-carmen-bests-home/

Here is another article talking about the protest. Neighbors said the protestors were organized, had radios and their cars had numbers on them. Several were carrying large duffel bags.

Snohomish Mayor John Kartak said the following:

“Although this took place outside city limits, it is well within my Snohomish community. As the Mayor of Snohomish, I find this deeply troubling… I condemn the doxing tactics used against fellow officials and law enforcement....

Kartak continued, “We are in times when a few voices are loudly crying out to defund our police. I would like to challenge every citizen and every voter to consider that they need to decide what they value. I know my community values their police and their sheriffs.”
