As 21twelve stated, there are several things going on in this post.
1. Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best has a house in Snohomish County, north of Seattle. The house suffered a protest, but was defended by locals. Chief Best was not there. Snohomish County has suburbs of Seattle, and cities, and is not necessarily rural.
2. The Snohomish County Sheriff has a recall petition going against him because he stood up to Gov. Inslee’s Covid directives.
3. There is a town called Snohomish, also in Snohomish County. A couple of months ago, the “peaceful protesters” were feeling out their support outside the big city, and protested through main street Snohomish. They were met with a bunch of well armed counter protesters. The woke crowd wisely stayed peaceful. Then the media lambasted the Snohomish city police chief for saying nice things about the armed citizens. He was demoted by the mayor of Snohomish.
4. Snohomish is a popular name around here. There is also a Snohomish River. It is the name of a native people local to Western Washington.
No matter how many things are going on in the post, the idea of the Sheriff being "demoted" is pure and simple BS.
Simply admit the OP was wrong and move on. Don't try to throw up a smokescreen about confusion between all the Snohomishes in the area.

Snohomish County is north of King County and does not have any suburbs of Seattle. Seattle is in King County which ends at 205th Street north. Snohomish County has a lot of rural land although being on the I-5 corridor the county is purple at best.
