Couple of things...
First, Bray, that is the best column you have ever written. And every word is truth. My mind is still digesting and I’ll have more thoughts on it later.
Next, Blogger has changed everything about itself and I curse the darkness as nothing is the same, I scream at the ruthless gods that a bunch of kids decided to change this and change that and nothing is the same.
I consider, yon ladies and gems, murder.
Finally, I’ve told the story of Nancy Pelosi, my “childhood friend” but did I tell you that I was once interviewed by Oprah Winfrey?
Oprah was a nobody who started her career in Baltimore. I was secretary for Parents Without Partners at the time and was chosen to be interviewed on “People Are Talking”, the show Oprah co-hosted at the time. It was a short thing, nothing of major hoo-hah, but I distinctly remember thinking that anybody with a name like Oprah won’t go anywhere.
And then there’s Beau Biden, yes Joe’s son who is no longer with us. He was, God rest his soul, as dishonest as they come....the stories I could tell. But once I was representing the Republican party at the Delaware state fair. I went outside to have a cigarette and soon Beau joined me.
We talked, as banished cigarette smokers do. In due course he began telling me stories about his father, hilarious stories, back in the day when there were no cell phones to record.
May Beau rest in peace.
Thanks Fish, I always get a kick out the best one I ever written. Not that it isn’t, but I have heard it so often I must have a hundred best ones ever written. I really do appreciate the compliment Fish. It means a lot as you know.
This one had massive writer’s block on how to start and write it. Didn’t get it done til late last night.
