I enjoyed him in “Seinfeld,” and his many other rolls. Looking at his listing of roles, I guess I saw him before I even knew who he was (”The Waltons,” “Kung Fu”). R.I.P.

Don Imus’ show did Wilford Brimley parody ads for Quaker Oats that are priceless.

Yes, frequent Imus' guest, Rob Bartlett used to do them. "Preparing your bird for Thanksgiving."

He was great, and Paul Newman was still gorgeous at 56 years old, older than Mr. Brimley.

All things considered, 85 wasn’t a bad run. RIP.

I love how they say no cause of death determined... he died of old age. The natural human lifespan is about 80 years or so. Everybody dies of something. Sometimes a person is in his or her nineties, and they still puzzle over a cause of death. Sheesh.

Borges: FYI there is not likely to be a funeral as he did not want to have one regardless of coronavirus or no coronavirus. Mr. Wilford Brimley would have taken great offense to your comment that he was a “commie”! He was a true patriot who became a Marine at a young age, he believed in America and the American people at a young age and maintained this belief through his more-than-colorful life. He supported McCain’s run for the White House and has been a staunch conservative. One of his best performances was “Quiet Heroes” by Chris Brubeck... if you can find that ... it is a moving symphonic tribute with Wilford’s narration giving honor to the marines of Iwo Jima. His reverence for those who fought for America so apparent he fought back tears while delivering this tribute! I will say were we to be able to show him that someone referred to him as a commie... “Well, everyone gets to have an opinion.... doesn’t amount to a bucket of spit!” He was who he was and didn’t really care nor reflect on what others thought about him ! He was a great man - without a vindictive bone in his body !

I give him a pass on supporting McCain. Lots of us did, being as Obama was Obama. Plus, Palin.

Played Dennis Quaid’s father in this one. A very memorable dialogue. Also last movie role for Warren Oates.

Tough Enough (1983)

Bill Long: Did you get a look at that big meat-headed sonofabitch?

Art Long: What’d they say he was? Albanian?

Bill Long: I know one thing: he’s some kind of goddamned foreigner, and there ain’t but one way to whip ‘em.

Art Long: What’s that?

Bill Long: Kick him right square in the nuts, and then tell him his mother’s whore.

Art Long: Thanks a lot, Dad. Will you just shut up, please?

Bill Long: I’m just tryin’ to help you, Son. You’re the one that’s gotta go in there and fight this big dumb sonofabitch. Look at him. Probably some kind of a goddamned... Communist savage.

Here’s the movie. Dialogue @ 38:00

He supported McCain because he greatly respected his service in the military and saw what McCain did during the war as heroic. Not many of us could have predicted how McCain changed towards the end of his life and how vindictive he became, especially in voting to maintain Obama care when the opportunity was there to save America from that legislation. That vote by McCain was purely an anti-Trump vote. !!

Strangely, the guy who wrote the screenplay of “Absence of Malice” just died.
