On the heels of the Bloomsburg Fair drawing public outcry over images of a man in a dunk tank impersonating Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Rachel Levine, a Tioga County tavern is apologizing for a menu item that mocked Levine, a transgender woman.
Some Tioga County residents posted a photo of the menu page of the Crossroad Tavern in Morris Township on social media, at least one to denounce it.
The menu said one of the items, “Levine balls,” was named after the health secretary and referenced a part of the male anatomy.
Over the weekend, the Crossroads Tavern posted an apology on its Facebook page:
“Last week a menu was printed for the tavern that was in poor taste,” the apology from the owner indicates. “Although I did not print the menu, I am at fault for allowing it to be displayed at my tavern. It was in bad taste and I never meant to offend anyone. I am sorry if I allowed it. I am sorry Dr. Levine and anyone else that was offended. Anyone that knows me, knows that I am not a judgmental person. Once again, I am sorry for my lack of judgement.”
The tavern owners could not be reached for comment.
“I was disgusted,” said Allison Maslar, a Tioga County teacher who saw the page last week and posted a shot of it. “It just made me sick to my stomach that in Tioga County, PA, we live with this low-level hate and ignorance. Sometimes I just have to stand up and say that it is wrong.”
WETM reports the tavern owner, whose name was not included in the report, spoke with the station but would not go on camera. He told WETM he never meant to hurt anyone and that he wanted to put this in the past, reports indicate.
“I posted this for several reasons,” Maslar said. “I wanted local people to know that this happened. I want the people that I know and love that are not straight or cis to know that I love them and appreciate them and that I do not tolerate hate, that I stand up for their right to exist just the way they are.”
This comes shortly after the Bloomsburg Fair posted on its Facebook page about a dunk tank that was part of an effort to raise money for fire companies. It included photos of someone in a dress and wig, meant to resemble Levine. The fair held a news conference last week at which fair officials apologized to Levine.
Gov. Tom Wolf issued a statement defending Levine after the fair post, saying Levine “is committed to keeping Pennsylvanians safe and healthy, even those who direct hate-fueled attacks at her.”
Department of Health Deputy Press Secretary Maggi Mumma said in a statement Monday about the menu, “Dr. Levine always serves at the pleasure of the governor and will continue to serve under his leadership as Secretary of Health. She remains laser-focused on protecting the health and well-being of Pennsylvanians as we navigate this ongoing pandemic.”
She said Levine has no further comment.
Levine made history by becoming the highest-ranked transgender state official when Wolf appointed her health secretary in 2015.

I ardently believe that transgenderism is wrong, as in sinfully wrong, on the order of an abomination to God. Enabling transgenderism is likewise sinful. I am writing about going to hell sinful. Their souls are in jeopardy.
I am sick of queers, freaks and other anti-American people being forced on me and telling me I am the problem and I have to change because they are intolerant to mainstream American views that were widely held not so long ago. The roots of those mainstream American views comes from Christianity. Their way of life comes from evil - the devil.

Not only should a free people mock their leaders, they must mock their leaders. It’s one thing that keeps the leaders in check. The editorial cartoonists of the old days new that.

That is to say, I don't think Dr. Levine gave 100% attention to his job.

Alinsky was right about one thing: Ridicule is a potent political weapon. We shouldn’t be afraid to laugh at the absurd and Pa having a mentally ill tranny as their Secretary of Health definitely falls into the category of absurd. People should stop apologizing for ridiculing that which is clearly ridiculous.
