As a Christian I cannot help but wonder if there is a divine hand at play here. If that damn has a catastrophic failure and Wuhan is hammered will the Chinese deem that as a revocation of the “mandate from heaven”?

One thing is certain— because the ruling party is atheistic, they don’t believe in heaven or hell, much less a mandate from God.
Not to cast any doubt on the USACE, but do they have their own ways of monitoring the dam, or do they rely on Chinese data?

Interesting comment. If the dam goes millions will die including thousands of children. God shrugs? Shouldn’t have pissed him off and all that. But remember...god loves you.
Just remember in scripture the times he wanted to rid the earth of the Israelites. Moses managed to convince him other wise.
