I’m glad it makes you happy!
You are a lot like me, also.
I have a lot of acres and a couple of big fields I mow and an extensive garden (although this time of year, the only thing I still pick is okra and tomatoes).
I also have lots of birds on my property. I even got some “bionic ears” to hear and record them better to identify them. So I’ll go out and just sit in the fields or woods and try to find which bird is singing.
Did you know this time of year bird song fades away very quickly as breeding season comes to a close? I’m in Alabama, so that happens at a slower pace, but it is a lot quieter this morning than it was a couple of months ago.
I also like to go out at night and watch the stars.
I got a pretty good view from my back field when it’s dark. I notice Cygnus getting higher and higher as full on Summer arrives. Did see the comet Newsome a few times but it’s pretty faint for my old eyes.
If you ‘right click’ on the picture, then select “view image”, the picture will show up larger.
The “zoom” on my camera wasn’t working which was upsetting - I missed getting some terrific hummingbird pics the other morning. Anyway, it turns out it was a simple fix & just in time to get the hawk pics!
The squirrel population around here is incredible. We had red-shouldered hawks that nested nearby, but they changed locations two years ago & now we have wall-to-wall squirrels. I saw the hawks several streets over in a neighborhood that has (or had) many squirrels. Maybe the hawks will return to their nest area around here after they take care of the squirrels in that neighborhood. We had squirrels get into our lake cabin year before last - nesting in the walls - it was a horrible mess to clean up so between that & destroying my bird feeders, I really do not like squirrels!
Thanks for the thread AB, sorry for the rant. Everyone, have a blessed and joyful day, as best you can manage! ~Q

Thank you for a great post

I do this, too! Don’t know much about what I’m looking at, but we’re away from the city and get a pretty ‘dark’ sky, so viewing is good. My goal is to put a bench/seat out at the garden for more comfortable viewing & I want to add a small fire pit for cooler weather, too.
The birds singing around here has been incredible. Our place has lots of good habitat & food so it’s just loaded with birds of all kinds. I even had a Red-headed woodpecker coming every day to the feeders - I can’t tell you the last time I saw a red-headed woodpecker until this year.
Picked my first tomatoes yesterday - we got a late start when cold weather got the first ones I planted. I have bell peppers & jalapenos doing well. This year, I’ve focused more on flowers than garden produce - I grow the veggies for my folks & they can only eat so much. The neighbors will be getting some tomatoes, peppers & sunflowers this afternoon.
I’ve got several red shouldered hawks over my property. Can’t see what the eat but...
I really have had a squirrel problem, too. I have a couple of mature pecan trees on both sides of my house. Squirrels devastated my nuts this Fall. I had a guy come out in December with a forestry mulcher and take down all the brush around my trees so the squirrels couldn’t get to them—also, it was looking pretty bad and my old self can’t clear land like I used to.
This year, I have hardly seen any squirrels—but, the hawks are always around. I bet the hawks got them. Less able to hid the brush when it’s gone!
Thanks for that tip.
I should send you some pecans.
You're doing what my wife and I are doing. We simply don't care what the Swamp thinks is news anymore. REAL news to REAL Americans has simply vanished from the air waves. The Fox News Toadies occasionally put a 'fair and balanced' spin on their Swamp News, but it's totally irrelevant for anyone between Manhattan Island and the Bay Bridge. Even Marie has gotten caught up in presenting some irrelevant Swamp News (though she is still tolerable).
To REAL people, ALL lives matter, ANTIFA and BLM rioters should be jailed, Biden should be mercifully placed in a nursing home, Marxist mayors and AGs should be investigated for treason, and school should start right after Labor Day. Anyone who thinks otherwise is to dumb to even consider having a valid opinion.
Good morning, Pat. 70% of American income earners pay more in payroll taxes than they do in income tax. Obama had a 2% reduction in the employee's contribution for almost two years.
Agree that restarting it will not be welcomed. However, SS is already spending more in benefits than it is now receiving in revenue. The shortfall is made up by cashing in T-bills from the the SSTF. The SSTF is projected to be exhausted in 2033. Unless the program is reformed, benefits, by law, must be reduced to revenue received. It would amount to a 20% cut in benefits. So a payroll tax holiday will hasten the exhaustion of tghe SSTF.
I love, love, love pecans.
I hate, hate, hate squirrels.
Dog also hates squirrels.

100% what you say!!
Combined income $400,000-500,000...free healthcare...likely more vacation days than they can use, and can’t be fired. Oh, pensions galore...
I should send you some pecans.
...
No, I’m the pecan fanatic from North Carolina...send them to me, here in Cincinnati.
I thought to myself “I bet Cousin Mike will have more information on this.”
I did not know that Obama reduced the payroll deduct by 2%. Lord that had to be a mess.
I do not think reducing payroll taxes, which I know most Americans pay in more than income taxes....Lord 7.65% of their income. One of the greatest pieces of legislature ever passed by the congress critters, who oncit upon a time did their job, was the 401K/IRA thing.
Over the years husband and contributed maybe 3% of our income. It rose to great amounts and I get way more money from my 401K than Social Security, which adding employer’s contribution was 12.9% over the years.
But this requires self-discipline, which is completely free, so the gubmint must control it.
New round of stimulus checks will be in the mail, for many of the protestors.
I get all the (shelled) pecans, almonds, walnuts etc. I need or want from Costco. Might turn into Baby Groot. (and no squirrel teeth marks on them).
The Kansas City, Missouri mayor? For what reason - that in Flyover country you’ll find morons who thinks Trump is bad?
So just before the virus was ready for "gain" which amounted to giving the virus abilities it never would have had Fauci had it sent to Wuhan labs. He got a three million dollar grant to make sure all the bat lady at Wuhan labs was able to get what she needed.
In the end it was all about creating a vaccine for a virus that Fauci(who patented several virus') and Gates needed the bat lady in Wuhan to create.
Ironically,we had three spys in Wuhan that were executed by the Chicoms. How did that happen? Seems the server in Hillary's bathroom was hacked and every spy we had in China was killed.
Thanks to Hillary.
Is she under arrest?
Who knows,I'm sure I don't.
Nice summary and primer on taxes.
A true political football and one most people dont comprehend especially as it relates to, how pols can manipulate the talk about the future of these for fear purposes .
the younger population in particular thinks all of these come free once you reach a certain age..
They have no idea how long you will keep paying, how you can be taxed on a tax ( SS ) based on earning too much once eligible. How Medicare cost can go up based on earnings that are related to iRA or other investment withdrawals.
To me you shouldnt be able to graduate high school without passing a simple test based on all these factors.
I have used a similar quiz on young people and they constantly fail these questions...
Great stuff words of wisdom many need to see.
I am a major news junkie, but even I am growing weary of this ALL COVID, ALL ORANGEMAN BAD BS.
And I am very sorry to hear that Peter Green is now in heaven
