I'm thinking that the Trump administration is letting these idiots swallow the hook all the way to their guts.
At some point the national guard may have to be activated. The last time the guard was activated, some of the soldiers even took a knee in solidarity with the rioters. Mark Esper (Sec of Defense) and General Mark Milley (Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff) were both pretty weak and seemed reluctant to support president Trump.
I wonder how this is going to play out.

I was partially listening to an interview on TV, perhaps of someone high in the chain of command. He said that federal officers are undermanned. That a city could have many thousands of police officers, but that the FBI perhaps has 1200 for the entire country (I'm guessing, can't remember). Point is, federal officers have counted on the cooperation of local police forces in order to do enforcement. Because of democrat mayors forbidding or blocking their police force from cooperating with federal compliance, the feds are severely handicapped in applying force.

Federal officers include much more than just FBI agents. ATF, Border patrol, US Marshalls, Homeland Security, and others have been used in Portland, DC and other places. President Trump just said a day or two ago there are 50,000-75,000 such federal LEO ready to be used if necessary.

I saw a picture of that. That picture anyway was a fake. It was a bunch of protesters who had put in army uniforms in order to sow confusion. Or maybe just for laughs. Their shoulder patches didn’t match, no command folks were around, etc.
Now, there might be other photos that are legitimate. That I don’t know.
Okay, I just did a little search. You’re right. An entire California National Guard unit did kneel, on orders from their captain.
