Yes they are.
I have come to believe that the GOP will never mount a comprehensive attack using all the resources at their disposal to destroy the Democrats - because they agree with the Democrats about the fundamental issues.
Therefore - the only force that can destroy the Democrats is the voters, and they will not do that without pain - a lot more pain.
Until the GOP is destroyed and rooted out of government completely, replacing it with the party we need will not be possible.
Creating the perfect party is not a reality, as its makeup will always be comprised of humans. We just need to keep improving the one we have, as much as we can. Even we will get it wrong sometimes.
