Congressman John Joyce, representing the conservative 13th District of Pennsylvania, yesterday committed the ultimate act of treachery by joining Nancy Pelosi in voting to remove statues of Americans from the US Capitol. In one case, the bust of the first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, Roger Brooke Taney, will be replaced with one of leftist Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall.

I’d guess most of these statues are of Democrats. I really don’t care if the Democrats want to destroy their own history.

“in one case, the bust of the first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, Roger Brooke Taney...”

Roger Brook Taney was born in 1777.

It’s quite amazing that he became Chief Justice in 1789 at the age of 12.

Chambersburg was burned twice by the Confederates, in 1863 (minor) and 1864 (major).

That could affect one’s judgement.

Stupid. Leave them all in place, and add plaques that describe the history behind the person and events.

They watched the mayor of Portland get abused after trying to pacify the leftist crazies—and now they want to pacify the leftist crazies.

You just can’t fix stupid.

When folks are that stupid, there really is nothing to be said to them.

I’ve read that people back then matured much faster and died much younger due to the hardships they had to endure.

The writer of the article and his editor need to dig into their high school history books a little deeper and read about Taney, which century he became Chief Justice, and study the Dred Scott decision.

72 Republican representatives voted to remove statues from the U.S. capitol. At least 3 Republican senators proposed terminating the Columbus Day holiday (in favor of Juneteenth).

They didn’t even bother asking their constituents how they might feel about the situation.

If these congressmen were professional athletes, they would be taking a knee during the national anthem.

“I’d guess most of these statues are of Democrats. I really don’t care if the Democrats want to destroy their own history.”

Perhaps they are ashamed of their history and want to keep it hidden.

In 1835, after Democrats took control of the Senate, Jackson appointed Taney to succeed John Marshall on the Supreme Court as Chief Justice. (wiki)

In one case, the bust of the first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, Roger Brooke Taney, will be replaced with one of leftist Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall.

Marshall Law -- it's for real.
