Major League Baseball has announced plans to stencil Black Lives Matter on the pitchers mound during opening week, beginning with the Washington Nationals and New York Yankees game on Thursday.
The Nationals, in conjunction with Major League Baseball, stand with the Black Lives Matter movement and will utilize the platform and national stage of Opening Day to express support for the fight against systemic racism and injustice, the team announced in a statement, according to ESPN.

What if they spit chewing tobacco on it? Shot on sight?
Bravo Sir! Thank you for your Service and the Sacrifice that you made for our country.
Very well written letter.
And out of that 15%, I bet at least half knows the sham that BLM is.
FMLB

FUMLB
FUBLM
BLM1: Cool..... We're still gonna burn it down, yeah?
BLM2: Oh, hells yeah, bruh!
What will the Broadcasters be spewing every 5 minutes ?
F all of ‘em....
>>>Gawdforbid some pitcher forgets, and spits.<<<
This just in to our ESPN desk.
Cy Young winner Justin Verlander today spat on the BLM symbol on the pitcher’s mound. He has apologized for such an egregious act on his part, nevertheless he has been suspended for life.
The smart players were the ones that opted out of the season.
They do not have to make a statement or stand.
“That puts the final nail in the MLB coffin.”
So glad that I no longer watch and support MLB....they just went to the dogs.
While I haven’t seen articles about it on FR, Major League Soccer has a BLM ‘ceremony’ before each match with players kneeling on the field (some raising their fists). Also, they have every coach, and every player on the sidelines and the benches, wearing black shirts with ‘Black Lives Matter’ in big white letters during their games.
I still contend that if the ‘powers that be’ start THANKING all for saying a little prayer during the National Anthem this kneeling would be forbidden in a heartbeat.
Well, Washington Nationals, I had done without you for the first 65 or so years of my life and I guess I won’t be missing ANYTHING by not tuning in if you go along with this garbage.
I may ‘watch’ a bit to see how some individual players act in regards to the crap plus how they act during the anthem.
But I guess we can just call this
‘MY LAST HURRAH’ for sports even down to the HS level, saw somewhere in Oregon or Washington(??) where a Football Coach (or asst) was ‘fired’ because he was a Sheriff.
At the risk of seeming to be ‘punishing’ my kids, I would certainly be thinking of removing them from the team as I wouldn’t want them associating with adults that would allow this to happen.
OTOH, I would like to think MY kid would say, NO DAD, no ME.
I sent this message to MLB.

As a longtime fan of Major League Baseball, I have to draw the line and say enough is enough. Sports and baseball, in particular, were meant as an escape from the world around us. Including diversity, gay rights, and now black lives matter, I will no longer click, tune in, turn on, or purchase any MLB items. I paid over $2,400 in tickets to watch last games last season and spent nearly the same amount on items purchased at the stadium. Consider the fact that I also subscribed to MLB TV and actively listened to games on the radio. Now multiply that times 100s of thousands of fans who feel the same way as I do. I hope that it hits you and every team in the pocketbook.
I work too hard for my money to get punched in the face by an organization that I supported for so many decades. My opinion may not be an important thing for you, but for fans like me, it most definitely is important.
I pray that none of the players kneel during our National Anthem.
Regards,
They REALLY don’t want anybody to watch baseball this year, do they?
Reason, logic and common sense don’t have a place in professional sports anymore, apparently!
Thanks for telling me since I won’t see it myself.
Well, Washington Nationals, I had done without you for the first 65
So you were not a Montreal Expos fan?
Nah, Brooklyn Dodgers ‘Da Bums’, ‘Lords of Flatbush’ ‘Boys of Summer’
Pee Wee, Duke, Billy Cox, Gil Hodges, Roy Campanella, Jackie Robinson, Skoonj Furrilo, Don Newcombe, Carl Erskine, Johnny Podres, Sandy Koufax etc etc etc
BUT Montreal was the AAA Farm Team...
Well they caved. I am officially free from watching corporate sports. Liberating! Thank you MLB...you held out the longest but thanks for making it official that I can completely divest myself from crappy corporate sports teams.i am sure this will help attendence.
I’m not a sports watcher, but I think its about time sports stars were taken down a notch. They enjoy too much fame and money IMVHO.
