Why This Revolution Isn't Like the '60s
Townhall.com ^ | July 23, 2020 | Victor Davis Hanson

In the 1960s and early '70s, the U.S. was convulsed by massive protests calling for radical changes in the country's attitudes on race, class, gender and sexual orientation. The Vietnam War and widespread college deferments were likely the fuel that ignited prior peaceful civil disobedience.

Sometimes the demonstrations became violent, as with the Watts riots of 1965 and the protests at the 1968 Democratic convention in Chicago. Terrorists from the Weathermen (later called the Weather Underground) bombed dozens of government buildings.

The '60s revolution introduced to the country everything from hippies, communes, free love, mass tattooing, commonplace profanity, rampant drug use, rock music and high divorce rates to the war on poverty, massive government growth, feminism, affirmative action and race/gender/ethnic college curricula.

The enemies of the '60s counterculture were the "establishment" -- politicians, corporations, the military and the "square" generation" in general. Leftists targeted their parents, who had grown up in the Great Depression. That generation had won World War II and returned to create a booming postwar economy. After growing up with economic and military hardship, they sought a return to comfortable conformity in the 1950s.

A half-century after the earlier revolution, today's cultural revolution is vastly different -- and far more dangerous.

Government and debt have grown. Social activism is already institutionalized in hundreds of newer federal programs. The "Great Society" inaugurated a multitrillion-dollar investment in the welfare state. Divorce rates soared. The nuclear family waned. Immigration, both legal and illegal, skyrocketed.

they gave us OBOLA-the-Imposter

50 years ago, our communist terrorists needed to rob banks and armored cars to finance their campaigns.

Now the same terrorists, age 70s, are still directing the communist revolution. But now, they are give unlimited millions by Soros, corporations, and private doners.

Just look up Susan Rosenberg, and her old pals Bob Avakian (runs RevCom.us) or Bill Ayers, who oversaw developing the Marxist curricula that poisoned the minds of generations, resulting in what we see today.

That says it all. Back then, the major institutions were all against this crap. Now, they’re fully funding it. Heck, even the democrat mayor of Chicago told the police to fire live rounds at protesters. The leadership of both political parties were completely against the rioters. Every institution was against them in the 60s. Now, the leadership of one party and all of our institutions are taking knees with them. Unlike the 60s, you can’t even watch a game without seeing corporate sponsored displays of support. This is the troubling difference. It is far deeper and more pronounced now. We are so much farther along the path towards societal breakdown and Marxist control of our society because of this universal institutional support and the support of the democrat party.

Do you think that GS uses his own money?
Look into the “foreign aid” grifting that goes on.
Where did the pallets of money end up?
Look into commie-run Foundations (GS has several) and then dig into their funding.
WE THE People are funding the “revolution”.

You are correct. America’s institutions no longer believe in America. Every single one of them. The Long March Through the Institutions has reached its end goal.

"it is the like 60’s"

Yes, largely kids acting out.

Back then, I was one of them, but then reason set in.

If a person is not a liberal when he is twenty, he has no heart; if he is not a conservative when he is forty, he has no head. Lots of missing heads these days.

In the 60’s America had institutions that were relatively stable. They were foundational. Our churches, law enforcement, schools and colleges, businesses and court systems were the skeleton that gave the body the freedom to have its wild and sometimes violent dance.

Now? These institutions are inviting these ideas and beliefs in- and they are acquiescing to them at an alarming speed.

Beside all that- they have no music, no creativity. The 60’s revolution was fed by the beat, by lyrics and melodies that inspired its believers.

Now? They have cell phone cameras recording themselves recording themselves. Narcissis staring at the reflection of Narcissus.

And they never laugh.
